This is truly sad, but I think we need 17:05 minutes of music rather than 16 minutes of silence.

Iron Butterfly really was the original garage band. And, they are back in the garage getting ready to turn out more (Iron Butterfly Website )!

Erik, I hope you get to play a rif for Bob while you're both waiting in line for St. Peter!

We have a crazy guy like this in Houston. Occasionally he will march in front of City Hall, protesting sodomites and sodomy. He occasionally carries signs with stick figures demonstrating to the uneducated the different sodomy positions. I think he may have missed a few.

Look, you cannot have not noticed that occasionally (like, 20 times a day) people get flamed on this board. People particularly get flamed for taking two different positions on the same topic (e.g., Jamaica is for proles; Jamaica is a wonderful place for PLUs to vacation), especially within a couple days.

All I was saying is, it seems that you can dish it out but can't take it ("no one is fat because of allergies; it's all because they're too dumb/weak/pathetic to increase their activity or decrease the amount of food they eat;" "my grandparents are incapable of not eating every bite of food on their plates because of how they were brought up/their life experiences;" "waaaaah, don't insult my grandparents you heinous bitch!!!!!!!!!! die die die!!!!!!!!!!"). I was suggesting, with the switch board comments, that if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. [Insert additional on point cliches].

It obviously wasn't really personal -- I have no fucking clue if your grandparents are fat or Lara Flynn Boyle-esque, nor do I care.
Are you high? Who or what was I dishing out? And if you're going to paraphrase me, please be correct. My point was, you were dissing on my grandparents. Unacceptable. And I really CAN take it - you'll have to trust me on that. If you're going to dog on someone, dog on me. My grandparents were saints who grew up poor - leave them out of this.

Does he include oral sex or is he just focused on the anal?

I did notice ever since I crossed swords with these guys at a trial they have made it a point to attack lesbians more. We're going to hell, "God should put a fear in your heart young lady."

One of them told me "I know there aren't many holy men Ms. Eaze, but you don't need to be a lesbian."

I laughed. A lot.

Reno 911 and Filth

Watched Reno 911 on Saturday night at about 2:30 AM. Was completely bombed out of my mind. I laughed a lot. Would this be funny sober? I was really shit-faced.

Irvine Welsh's "Filth" is disturbingly funny. But it gives me a headache to read in Scottish.

He includes what appears to be M-M oral, but I guess it could be F-F. It's so difficult to tell with stick figures.

You go to trial against these people? How do you keep a straight face (so to speak, ant twat)?

You get used to the Scottish. You do not get used to the protagonist's appalingly bad hygiene.

I think he's focused on when NFH's grandpa would fuck her grandma up the ass with a strap-on -- because there was no Viagra back then. Old people having sex is sooooooo gross.

Actually, I find it a bit scary, so I have no trouble being serious. The fact they actually know my name now doesn't thrill me. The only time I can find them amusing is when there is a fence between us and/or police officers surrounding me, as I had Saturday.

And I am thinking upon reading this, why wasn't he screaming ABOMINATION at this freak show of a marriage between a gay man and a lord knows what she is.

I mean come on. What a joke. Talk about an insult to the institution.

Of course, filming the arrests made my day, but we can leave that for another conversation (and another board.)
Let me preface this comment by saying that I think Pride Days/Weekends are a great thing, and that without the organizers who've been running them for 15 years, this continent would be a far less tolerant place, and we probably wouldn't get quality programming like Queer Eye (I'm now TiVo caught up, and I couldn't be happier).

But what's the deal with every city having Pride Day on a different weekend. It feels like a bit of a cheat to me. Is it the same 100,000 people going from city to city all summer long? I'd be much more impressed if they all happened on the same day. Is there a hardcore batch of Pride Day-ites? Is each city's Pride Day comprised mostly of locals, or ringers? Not that any of this matters, but it's just something that crossed my mind this summer.

You have got to be kidding. Are you mocking hyper-sensitive people? If so, you're doing a fairly good job, but you need to rant more. They tend to rant a lot. In case you are actually not kidding, rest assured I will put a post-it up on my wall to remind me that you remember. I'll draw some cute angel wings on it, along with stick figures of gramma and grampa in their favorite pre-Viagra position.

I quite liked the bit where the protagonist initiates a "hey let's make photocopies of our dicks and have the women guess whose belongs to whom" contest, then uses the "enlarge" feature on the photocopier, in order to bag the (very confused) size-queen babe. But yes, a disturbing book. Having the tapeworm narrate big bits is an interesting choice.

You know those people. Always coming here from out of town and making trouble. After all, good folks raised in these parts wouldn't do those things, dress that way, or say such things.

PS (I think they're really all from NY).
