LIfe is cruel
I bought a lottery ticket for last Saturday's drawing. It wasn't a big jackpot or anything.
I finally checked the ticket today. I have the first number. I have the second number. I have the third number. (By now, my heart is thumping a little). I have the fourth number. And then.... Damn. I don't have numbers five or six.
For one brief and shining moment, I was imagining walking into the managing partners office and saying "Peace, out. Indeed."
Sigh.
Well, $69.50 doesn't suck, but it's no six mill.

Now there is one that doesn't keep well.
I loved this as a morose teenager. I reread it recently, and thought it was pretty trite.

Are you people trying to drive me away from this board? I dont think I got the memo that this is National Boring Post Week.
My favorite book as a child was the Happy Hooker by xaviera hollander. my mom kept it in her nightstand drawer.

I so totally remember that! I think there were flowers and a wedding ring that figured prominently in the cover design. The "good pages" were well-worn in that book as it was passed around the classroom in secret, but don't you know, for the life of me, I can't remember a single detail.
I remember "Are You There God..." and the book about the boy and his wet dreams (what was the name of that one?) resulting from his spying upon the (older) teenage girl next door whom he could see nekkid from his bedroom window. His family was newly rich (from a dry cleaning business?) and he would hide his sheets from the maid.
Now, see, I remember all that with perfect clarity (well, except for the title) -- perhaps because I didn't understand what was going on, so it stayed with me. (I was like, huh? why is he hiding the sheets; what's on them? WHAT IS GOING ON?!?)
I think I read every one of the books (well, not "Forever" -- I just read the dog-eared pages) by Judy Bloom. Wasn't there one about a girl with scoliosis? Deedee? Deenie? Something like that.

This one is Russian, and it is a horse he wan't to slit open. And I am blanking on the name. I think its Turgenev.
This is driving me batty. I reread this maybe a year or two ago, and it's still good.

Hereis a detail for you. The penis' name is Ralph. "Katherine, meet Ralph. Shake his hand." I met a Ralph at a bar a couple of months back and for the life of me could not get past his name. And not just bc Ralph is an awful name. Its awful plus. I turned to the gal next to me when I heard his name and said "forever by judy blume" and she didtn get it. dtb, i wish you were there to share it with me.

With the shoplifting new rich friend (I think the brother of the nekkid girl)? I vaguely recall that his dad invented some sort of electric cell so your lamps could sit in the middle of a room without a cord - one of those stupid everyday inventions like the Clapper that you know made someone really rich. What was that one called?

The one I'm thinking of is definitely North American (maybe in Canada but I'm not sure), and definitely about a dog. Which I remember clearly because 1/2 the story is from the dog's p.o.v. Story ends with the dog going on to the nearest settlement to find a new human.

Not the one I'm thinking of. So some Canadian guy ripped off the Russian dude?
Man, you can't trust a Canadian, can you?

Speaking of cock rings, I am thinking of changing the ringer on my cell phone to a rooster crow. Too subtle?
And the hat worn by Lisa G last night looked ridiculous. Why does she keep wearing hats?

Those are pretty freaking funny.
To this day, every time I boil an egg (admittedly, not often), I remember the "mystery" of the egg-spinning contest. The kid who kept winning was cheating by using a hard-boiled egg (which will spin longer than a raw egg). EB figured it out, because when the kid's egg dropped behind the counter at the soda shop (or whatever), the waiter used a BROOM to clean up the mess (whereas, if the egg had been raw, he would have used a mop.) Pretty sneaky, sis!
Yet, I cannot seem to remember the lastest revisions to the NASD Corporate Finance Rule.

Why were they having an egg-spinning contest? Is this an actual sport that you can letter in and, if so, what is the best egg-spinning movie?

Distraction was the whole point. I'd be happy to switch since I really like the first one, but I'll have to get the pic shrunk down a bit since it's a little too wide to use here...
