It's Judy Blume, not Bloom

The book was "then again, maybe I won't". That was the one where he wore the raincoat to class all the time.

Along with Forever, she also wrote a book called "Wifey" that had sex. My sister had Forever and Wifey in her nightstand.

Edited to point out that the scoliosis one was Deenie. She had to wear a brace.

Trashy Fiction

My other grandmother had a collection of the trashiest books, so I would always read her Michael Korda, the Kane & Abel books, etc.

Good times.

Don't be embarrassed about being a geek. Revel in it.
And what kind of neighborhood do you live in where Bugs Meany is scared of a Sally? (I think that was her name.)

I think my entire third-grade class cried for the rest of the day after the teacher finished reading that book to us.
Didn't anyone read Mrs. Piggle Wiggle? I loved those books.

Why thank you. I've been both on a diet and working on elongating my body. It is good to see it is paying off.

Thank you. Though I don't really live in Amish country.

Cops Searching Neverland Ranch

Various news sources are reporting that cops have descended on Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch with a search warrant...

Also hearing that the suckass band Creed may be breaking up, so my day is pretty well made.

And now that I think of it, what about Beverly Cleary? Henry Huggins, Ribsy, Beezus. Good stuff.

I loved the Chronicles of Narnia as a kid, as an adult they've lost some of their magic, but I still like them.
Finally, a poll I feel compelled to answer:

THE WESTING GAME, by Ellen Raskin. It's fairly well known, but that shouldn't dismiss its worthiness or its hipness. Synopsis. Sam Westing, the town millionaire, dies. His heirs are the 16 tenants who have all recently been sold apartments (or have leased commercial space) in a new apartment building. The heirs don't get the money though, they have to play a game. The Westing game. Great characters, great story. It's got it all.

Are they figuring he's going to flush the underage boys down the toilet?

Oh, there was this series called the box car kids. They were somehow left on their own and ended up turning a boxcar into a home.

I loved those books too. I haven't read them as an adult, so who knows what I would think now.

Sorry make that box car children.
I know there's no way in hell anyone's going to remember this, but I've been trying to find a series of books where two or three kids solve crimes, and the distinctive thing about the books is that the kids love to hang out at this movie theater that plays really awful movies all the time with ridiculous titles; things like "Frankenstein, the Harlem Globetrotters, and Frankie and Annette all go surfing." Beyond that, I don't remember anything about the books, but I'd love to re-read them. Anybody?

Jacko is no Scarface, but I think they are descending on his house to keep him from saying hello to his little friends...
