Let's read our Drudge with care, here -- CBS's Stone Phillips asked the question, I'll let your superiour googling skills tell me if he ever reported anything, but the Drudge Report only says he asked it. NBC has a question of Mary Maitlin over morning coffee, and Newsweek doesn't run anything, but one of its reporters discussing the issue while on Nightline, and the Nightline story is a "story about the story".
The rumor surfaced in the NY Post, and sleezy as it is it is still a bigger outlet than Drudge. In those days CNN ran anything.
It was not a big story. It lasted a cycle. And there was more to it than there is to this one, since it started with a book by a named source.

Yes, passed a few years ago, but the UC system, in practice, are getting around it.

I was only talking about it as a political issue. GGG thught it will help the Dems, I think not.
that the people in charge of our Universities know they need to "get around" a public mandate is only to be expected. they are, remember, better informed than us.

Essay question
In light of the fact that I have occasionally been crossing the Safeway picket lines to shop for my necessaries, should I realize that I have shifted my allegiance from the progressive champions of the downtrodden worker to the benevolent conservatives supporting owners of capital in this country?
While at first blush the answer may be obvious, a more complete response will take into account the fact that, for reasons unrelated to my bad habit of getting behind the wheel after a few mimosas, I am unable to drive at the moment, and Safeway is the only grocery store within walking distance.
Extra credit points will be awarded to an answer that persuasively argues what kind of conservative I should be, either a less funny Hank or a Barry-Pepper-in-25th-Hour sgtclub type.

You should realize that you have done neither. The money you spend at safeway is insignificant given safeway's size. Unless you organize all of the people in your neighborhood not to spend money at safeway, your acts as a consumer will have zero effect.
Question for you: assuming the money you fail to spend at safeway would have an effect, aren't you also hurting the replacement workers? And doesn't that put a guy like you in a bit of a catch 22? Do you support the down trodden worker that has a job, or the down trodden worker that doesn't.* Or do you presume that labor members are more deserving than non?
*And you can't answer, "I would make safeway hire all of them."

Yes.
Well, Maybe.
Don't be redundant. What we could use around here is an intelligent, conservative African-American woman with a good body.

you can't be a conservative.
a good conservative is hooked into the prosecutor's office, or has friends who are. We don't lose our license.
Besides you miss the first rule of being a liberal- you only need insist white male republicans "behave" according to your rules. I've heard tell of a lib family that owns half of Mass. seacoast, has never worked a day in their collective lives, and still chides white republican males for not giving to the poor.
You go girl, cross that line.

Fringey, seems like a long time since I've seen you here. Are we no fun anymore or have you been socking?
No, you already serve your purpose by letting us crack jokes about Fringey and the PB board virgins, though I note that you've made a very fine conservative in the past.
