I could not turn away from the two hour man-who-has-lots-of-women-in-his-life-die-from-falls-down-the-stairs one over the weekend. Is that the one you saw? Although if someone had warned me early on that it was going to be a two hour story, I would have been able to turn away, I bet. One hour is all they should be allowed for these things. Every story can be told in one hour. Look at how well A&E does it! I think that the lack of one-hour discipline on the part of the E! True Hollywood Story has trickled down to the networks too.

This is really not that complicated. Why didn't you just answer the simple question I asked:
We can end this discussion right now if you agree with this statement:
Even though African Americans have experienced oppression and enslavement for four hundred years and experience institutional oppression right now, such prior history and current circumstances does not make it OK for them to make racist comments about any other races or ethnic groups in this country.
Do you have a problem with that statement?
(considering you said this earlier "I am not saying anyone should have a free pass when making racially insensitive remarks." I can't imagine it being a problem)
And if you don't, I don't know what we have been arguing about.

I've never been to either. My northern European adventures have been pretty much dedicated to the UK.
ETA: I did read a pretty awesome review of Reykjavik in the NYT travel section last spring, though this part gave me a little pause: "And off-season rates and packages mitigate the shock of paying your hotel bill at what is among the most expensive cities in Europe."

Yes, that one. I had no intention of watching it, but after 15 minutes, I was hooked. I agree on the lack of discipline: after 55 minutes and 2 orange cosmopolitans, I was asleep. |
