Editted to note that my secretary has been doing all my real work ahead of all the FB posts, and that I might have to have a talk with her. Or just not give her anything for Christmas and then print out this page.

I have to agree with whoever came up with this one. I hate, hate, hate that commercial.
I should note that I'm not sure I've ever even seen this commercial, but my husband goes around saying it all the time (yes, you read that right... my husband walks around the house quoting that commercial -- sometimes with added finger-pointing flourishes! I'm such a lucky gal...).

I just can't understand why a driver would think that they deserve to take away 2 spots that could be used by other poeple with their vehicles. Inflated sense of importance much? Honestly I don't see many minivans here in flashy-car central though, so maybe I'm misremembering.

There's a dualie in my parking garage whose driver thinks that two small spaces equals one large space. Why anyone would need to take a dualie to my office, I have no idea. I've nearly sicced the garage security on the damned vehicle a couple of times.

Blame the Women's Christian Temperance Union, aka MADD. They have been staunchly opposed to any kind of graduated penalty system, which really is a lot more sensible. I think they would make the limit sufficiently low so even a swig of scope could make you guilty. It also means that you can't have really severe penalties for the .23ers, because the same penalties would apply to the .08 guys, and no one wants to lock up Joe Accountant who had a few too many at the firm happy hour.

Regarding car commercials, I find the Cadillac Escalade commercials particularly irritating. They're obnoxious.
Here in Bean-town we have some very annoying local commercials. The best/worst is for Dean's Home Furnishings, "I doubt it."

Have y'all seen the hyper-fast Mitsubishi commercial that's filmed in Toronto? You can tell by the skyline and use of the famous "Honest Ed's" sign. That commercial always makes me happy.
That said, with Tivo I only watch commercials if I'm multitasking and forget to forward through them.

I am pretty sure that this is my first FB-related flirting. Unless there was a big discussion of me being so fucking hot that I missed. Which is unlikely. Who knew that being indignant and pissed off about parking and bad drivers while idling on conference calls would get me noticed?
Yes, no, only if you tell me what "ltl/fb" means and it doesn't scare me away. And I still reserve the right to run away screaming in terror like the last time a woman came to me instead of letting me badger her into dating me until she finally couldn't take it any more and had to go out with me.

I've got one. It's the bald guy who talks about how you can learn to use computers using "MY PROGRAM."
Related question: What's your least favorite infomercial? Back in law school I had a special fondness for Don LePre, rocking back and forth telling us that we could learn to make big money by placing small classified ads in newspapers, if we'd only order his book telling us how.

Invitation hell.
Tell me - what do I make of a wedding for a second marriage (for her at least) where both bride and groom are 35-ish, homeowners, and well off, for which I received a formal invite which lists the four(!) stores the couple have registered at (on the map inset, not the actual invite). I'm thinking "oink oink oink" right now - anyone else?
Also, I have the pleasure of also being invited to a lingerie shower for the same bride (I hate these damn things - I have a hard enough time picking out my own under-somethings, let alone someone else's). What is acceptable to bring to such an event other than actual lingerie or a gift certificate, if anything? The bride is very conservative (read: super-Bible-y), so nothing too racy (I'm not even sure she is aware that it is an undie-shower).
Thanks, TL
p.s. dtb, I would have beaten him about the head by now. Yeesh.
edited to add that I'm also really pissed because I have to attend the wedding by myself because Mr. Lex will conveniently out of town that weekend, but I can't exactly blame that on the bride.

I saw it and suddenly flashed back and now cannot get this jingle out of my head: "Okay, Blue Jays, (pause) Let's...(pause)...Play...(pause)...Ball." I don't know why.

Yes indeed, I am familiar with that commercial and its locale. Honest Eds! The World's Biggest Discount Store! I used to live just up the street from there on Bathurst. I got my hair cut there once when I only had about $10 to my name and needed a haircut and did not trust my friend. It was not too bad.
Apropos of Toronto, over this weekend someone reminded me of WAMCO and I thought of your avatar - even though it was a few years later.

What about the one telling you you can make even bigger money hawking a book on how to sell books through informercials?

This reminds me of the story about the guy in Germany a couple of weeks ago. When pulled over and asked if he had been drinking he said something along the lines of" "Sure, I'm not going to lie, I've only had about 20 beers." The funny/scary thing is that he thought 20 beers was a small amount to have consumed before getting behind the wheel.

Well, there you go. In that case, you really don't have much of a choice, unless you're going to get an F-Series
I think the snow thing is overrated, but YMMV. I just have noticed that in most northern areas with serious winter weather (Michigan, Maine, Wisconsin, Upstate NY) that I have visited (thankfully, only in summer), everyone seems to drive not SUVs but large American front wheel drive cars. Of course, maybe that's just my relatives. The parking lot at our family reunion looks like a freakin' Buick dealership.
I have no better empirical data however, because there is no way anyone is getting me to move far enough north to experience the difference for myself.

Am I the only person who has no problem with people taking advantage of the unbelievably stupid?
And I don't mean children or the elderly or the mentally challenged. I mean just plain stupid.
