Ouch! As a kid I mistakenly dove into an empty swimming pool, if you can believe that. Damn, that smarts!

I can watch about 3 straight hours of Headline News if Rudi Bahktiar is anchoring. FWIW, fyi, for the record. NTTAWWT.

I know I'm posting awfully late in the game here, but am I the only one concerned that Atticus fancies himself an expert in movies starring pre-teen girls?

And drhathaway, I liked Punch Drunk Love, but I haven't come up with a coherent defense of the film as yet. I do like the notion that (1) many Adam Sandler fans sat through a pretty experimental film, and (2) P.T. Anderson saw Adam Sandler and thought to himself, "Yeah, normally I work with guys like Bill Macy and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but I'd like to try to make a movie with someone who has the acting chops of a community theatre understudy."

Two TiVo Questions and a HDTV Question

Don't know about prices, although they have been coming down. But not "every" 30"+ TV will be HDTV. After some time in 2004 (IIRC), every TV over 36" must have HDTV tuners built in, and in 2007, all TVs must have a tuner built in.

1) That doesn't mean that the TV must itself be HDTV, just that it can receive signals.

2) you don't need an HDTV tuner to see the higher quality. For example, DVDs will appear much better on an HDTV station.

Robert won the veto and did not use it. Buzzard Crotch is therefore (blessedly) out of there in all likelihood.

Agreed. He is the sentimental favorite, plus he got the loudest ovation. Bally's agrees too:

RALPHIE MAY 2/1
TESS DRAKE 5/2
RICH VOS 4/1
CORY KAHANEY 8/1
DAT PHAN 12/1

.
1) I think we need a little different spoiler space for BB4 bc I want expecting spoilage on a show that hasnt aired yet. That said, you just eased my decision on whether to watch boy meets boy, bb4 or last comic standing. the fucking paigow trifecta of favorite tv shows all on at the same time.

I have a question re BB4- they said only 3 contestants were over thirty. I know Erika and Jack are, but who is the third? Dana appears to be about 40 and Robert appears to be about 42. As fir tge vote off, it would appear that it is gonna be a 3 to 3 tie with the Bulldog casting the deciding vote. Or will the 3 boys vote off Dana bc they dont wnat to alienate Jun without an e bc they know Dana is toast? ANd Jee still wants her?

As for Last comic, those odds are fucked. Tess was speaking gibberish. I could not understand half of what she was saying, and Dat was very funny. ANd all of Asia america is gonna vote for him. The only things hurting him are overexposure and Ralphie. I am close to asking you how I can bet on this except that I still think Ralphie should probalby win, especialy if the obese-americans vote for him, which is like three quarters of the country.

NBC seems to be a prime offender, and this is not earning me any points with people when I try to show off my TiVo (sure, sexy young thing I am trying to date, let's set my TiVo to record for Who Wants to Marry My Love or Money Island, and you can come over and watch it.) I feel like a real asshole when my little demonstration ends up with the last two minutes of the program cut off.
We're over tivo.

At the recommendation of our uber-tech friends, I picked up a time warner cable dvr.

Yowzaa.

It's basically as easy as using my cable box. It doesn't cut off strangely timed shows. It captures every second of PTI and the weirdly scheduled NBC fare.

I love the built in picture in picture and the ability to record two live shows and watch a third.

All this for $9.95 a month.

Invitation hell.

I'm thinking "oink oink oink" right now - anyone else?

Also, I have the pleasure of also being invited to a lingerie shower for the same bride (I hate these damn things - I have a hard enough time picking out my own under-somethings, let alone someone else's). What is acceptable to bring to such an event other than actual lingerie or a gift certificate, if anything? The bride is very conservative (read: super-Bible-y), so nothing too racy (I'm not even sure she is aware that it is an undie-shower).

Thanks, TL

p.s. dtb, I would have beaten him about the head by now. Yeesh.

edited to add that I'm also really pissed because I have to attend the wedding by myself because Mr. Lex will conveniently out of town that weekend, but I can't exactly blame that on the bride.
Invites: they're coarse pigs and lucky if you get their vulgar asses a card. If you do want to get 'em a gift anyway, buy them the cheapest thing you can find at Tiffany's that they'll still put in a prestigious blue box for you and they will like that just fine.

Lingerie: If you don't want to freak out her dowdy relatives with anything remotely sexual, get her the same demure-yet-pretty white satin robe that everyone else will get her. Or perhaps a ladylike pastel. Include a gift receipt.

Headline news has been unwatchable -- UNWATCHABLE -- since they changed the format. It's become a fucking coffee klatch with some USAToday news-tidbits thrown in.

Is this Rudi Bahktiar naked or something?
