No, I am not going to switch the gift to scotch to avoid the issue.
If this person like their martinis on the dry side, but not completely without vermouth, there is a brand of olives which come steeped in vermouth. I forget the exact name, but it's a personal name, kind of Jewish sounding. They have them at Williams-Sonoma, but you can also frequently find them at your ordinary grocery store.

More generally, almost any Queen olive, stuffed with whatever you choose, is best. I particularly like a brand called Holsum.

I hope your gift is intended to be a small token. Unless you're planning on buying your friend a case of them, olives aren't terribly expensive.

It's a small token, and there will be vodka involved as well. I do not want ones soaked in vermouth as the attraction is the taste of olives after they've been in the vodka for a while.

Not very hot.
I guess I was talking about reverse wheelbarrow then.

Is woman on top included in missionary? I always think of missionary as just man on top.

No. Sebby was wrong. The woman's face is facing the floor. Her hands are the "wheels" to the wheelbarrow. Her ass, like any position from behind, is the ashtray stand.

Who knows? I still can't figure out why its called missionary. Was it the position most often used by missionaries to rape "savage" women?

Gwink, I think this answers your question about the "woman on top" thing.

Gack. On the plus side, they serve dinner all day at both locations, so no problem getting the ribeye. On the minus side, the ribeye is $39.95 al la carte. I don't want ribeye that much. I miss Texas Land & Cattle. I don't care that it's a chain.

Harmonic convergence. Today's "Straight Dope" column deals with that exact subject. Brief answer - it comes from Kinsey, mixing up stuff reported by an obscure anthropologist.

I recently had a discussion with a friend of mine about this. Does anyone know a television show that had it's best season after the third year? We are both hard core fans of a variety of shows (Buffy, X-Files, Alias, Simpsons, etc.), and we couldn't think of a single television show that got better as the run went on.

The missionaries told the savages that they should have sex with the man on top, facing each other, because that was the way Jesus intended people to fuck.

I think the reasoning was that animals do it from behind, and of course the man should be in the superior position.

Why anyone would let a (supposedly) celibate priest tell them how to fuck is beyond me.

The first couple of seasons of the Simpsons were not as good as the third and fourth, and I think the fifth. Then it went downhill.

Everything I Need to Know I Learn on VH-1.

Usually cute kid stars grow up ugly. This is not the best picture, but I was shocked to learn last night that Tina Yothers (Jennifer from "Family Ties") turned out this well:
