I hate to ruin the good relationship we currently enjoy, but I'm 22 and I like the Beatles because I inherited my grandparents' record collection. John was shot before I was born.

That's okay. I'm actually a 16 year old girl. I was just kidding. My top 5 fave cds (WTF are records?) are anything by Jesse McCartney, Lindsay Lohan, Hillary Duff, Never Mind the Bollocks, and the Dean Martin cd my Daddy plays whenever he drinks 2 much and beats Mom.

I know we've done the desert island music poll and the driving music poll before, but have we done the Top Five Albums poll? I was talking with friends about this over the weekend, and it was fairly interesting. The question is: What are your personal top five albums of all time?

They can be on the list because they took you in a different direction musically, because they are the albums that you most want to hear when you turn on your iPod, because you spent a year of your life just listening to those albums, whatever...

Here is my list (in no particular order):

Life's Rich Pageant, REM (introduced me to "college music" back in the day, which turned me into the cute alt-music chick NotBob would have been after in college)
The Final Cut, Pink Floyd (sebby might be the only one here that understands this pick)
Version 2.0, Garbage
OK Computer, Radiohead
Absolution, Muse (anyone who likes either Radiohead or classic Queen who has not listened to this album is missing out; good enough to make my top 5 even though it is a fairly recent release)

Honorable Mention if greatest hits albums were allowed:
Crowded House (I still listen to this on a weekly basis)

Ok, PLF, hit me with your obscure yet trendy mix of critically popular, yet non-mainstream stuff.
In no order (and only allowing one almbum from any given artist):

Let it Bleed
Back in Black
Everyday (Widespread)
Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (Crowes [the good crowes])
London Calling

...have we done the Top Five Albums poll?
Yes. About 300 times since the 90's.

You should know better.

A real sock would've taken the time to come out with the full 5, you know.

Off the top of my head, meaning I'm surely missing something:

English Beat, Special Beat Service
Talking Heads, Speaking In Tongues
The Pixies, Come On Pilgrim
Nirvana, Nevermind
The Waifs, Up All Night

eta: Not my top five now, but the top-most at various times.

Now I'll try to figure out what's missing....

My HP contribution for the day

My boss just compared herself to a Dementor when she took my (rare) peppy-happy-glowy-bursting-with-energy-and-joy outlook on life and yanked it away from me. I have to say, I even felt the chill settle over the room.

HP has a wide, wide influence.

I would. Actually I want to be put down long before that. Like as soon as I start dropping references to my job or my school, or Toronto arcania, in every other sentence.

So, I haven't read if anyone is watching this, but I am bored for a while. A lot of the dudes are making themselves targets. Firefighter dude, Iraqi dude, duck-walking dude, security guard dude. All gone withine the first 8 votes, I think. There are so many women I can't keep up with them all, but I hope that overly belligerent Latina and thick firefighter's friend girl go soon. Hasn't the angry brown girl stereotype been done enough that we can have female minorities in reality shows who aren't pissed off at everyone and shaking their heads around? I hope that a few interesting people will win vetos, vote off the annoying ones, and keep their heads down so that this is interesting in September. I am very bored right now. If I wanted to see meatheads fight about pissing off each other's families, I would go to the HangeeUpee.
