FWIW, during the 5 minutes of that mess that I watched late last night, the drummer from some godawfulband Down Under was wearing a "Just Say No to Nuclear" T-Shirt.

Interestingly, "more Americans support impeaching Bush now than supported impeaching Clinton when he was actually being impeached." Steve Benen has the polling data.

you have your built in loony factor. in February 2001, 30% of America supported impeaching bush. the only bad fact is he hasn't committed any impeachable offenses- I mean unless you can prove up that Hatch act violation.

- Pool Drain Pulls Small Intestine Out Of Young Girl
Heather Brown
Reporting
(WCCO) Minneapolis A 6-year-old Edina, Minn. girl has been hospitalized after a horrific accident at a swimming pool.
Abigail Taylor was severely injured Friday when she sat over an open drain hole in a wading pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club.
Now Abigail's father has a warning to other families: Pool and hot tub drain accidents are a hidden danger that many of us don't understand.
Abigail has big brown eyes, a dazzling smile and at just 6 years old she has already competed in local swim meets.
"She loves to swim," said her father Scott Taylor.
Her love of swimming is why her family didn't think twice when she played at a kiddie pool at the family's golf club on Friday night.
Taylor said as Abigail was getting out of the pool, she fell.
"She more or less blacked out, she passed out, fell face-first onto the pool decking," he said. The family thought it was a seizure.
An ambulance rushed her to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Several hours later a surgeon said Abigail was lucky to be alive.
"The suction had caused a two-inch tear in her rectum and had basically disemboweled her by pulling out her small intestines, almost all of it," said Taylor.
Her father said a search of the pool filter turned up Abigail's intestine. He said Abigail was seriously wounded because the cover of the drain had been removed.
In most public pools the drain cover is screwed in and cannot be pulled off. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the pressure on some pool drains can be as strong as 300 pounds per square inch.
"It never even crosses anybody's mind that potential at the bottom of that pool is enough force to literally disembowel a child, an adult," said Taylor.
Abigail will have to be fed intravenously for the rest of her life and will have to have a colostomy bag.
"We view it as a miracle that she's still with us," her father said.
She is improving. Wednesday morning she stunned her family by asking a question.
"She said, 'Am I going to be on the news?' She said, 'Why do you ask?' She said, 'Because I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else,'" recalled Taylor.
Since 1990, 170 people, mostly children, have been caught in drains and 27 of them have died. Legislation is pending that would require pools and hot tubs to have multiple drains to ease the suction.
Some pools have a safety vacuum cutoff which shuts down if someone is trapped. New drain covers which cost less than $50 can also help.
According to the Associated Press, an official at the golf club expressed sympathy for the family and said he didn't think anything was wrong with the pool, but referred questions to the club's attorney, who declined to comment.

If ever there was a need for trial lawyers, it would be to address cases like this.

So at the hot sulfur springs I was at this weekend, the drain-y things were not that strong. But the one that was really truly strictly for 2 people only, the water went out over a little stone waterfall, into the 85 degree duckpond. It was AWESOME, other than the smelling like egg afterwards.

Likewise, his approval ratings still stand around 30% in July 2007.

I don't think that's true. For one, 9/11 changed everything. Don't ever forget that.

They should take tort cases away from juries and give them to groups of randomly chosen professionals. Juries are too stupid to get past emotion.
I say this as a person who has written expert reports which caused large settlements which were filled with fucking lies. I played semantic games and caused people to lose lots of money when we really honestly did not have a case. The experts never balked. They alsmost always play ball. Only three or four have ever complained and said they wouldn't go along with some sort of hiding of the truth effected by a little tweaking of important verbiage.
Nothing like getting seven figures for a pile of shit a lawyer with no skills in science or accounting made up. Google's pretty amazing. You know how loose and screwy I can be here? You can serve my least coherent drivel to the average imbecile on a Philadelphia jury and he wouldn't know better.
In fairness, I did it from the defense and plaintiff's side. I've always got my Nuremberg Defense. Just following some shyster's orders.
It's sleazy. It's all fucking sleazy. And John Edwards is pond scum.

Sid Bass is financing a venture with the Chris Craft to roll out "Land Boats." It's a car that uses sails, like a boat.

Definitely NSFW.

So, the music at the fireworks I went to on the 4th included "Born in the USA" which as we know is not actually a very the-USA-is-supreme-in-all-the-world song. As you may or may not recall, the basic structure of the song is 4 lines, chorus, 4 lines, chorus, etc. Except, in this iteration, it went straight from chorus to "Got in a little hometown jam/So they put a rifle in my hand" to chorus. And that's only 2 lines.
Yeah, they actually cut out the lines "Sent me off to a foreign land/To go and kill the yellow man."
Which I thought was "fellow man" but my BFF corrected me.

If we impeached both of them at the same time, would we have President Pelosi?

Recognizing that we are now exploring the land of the speculative and improbable, the way to get the GOP votes necessary to make that happen would be for Democrats in the chain of succession to step out of the way so that Secretary of State Rice would become the President.
