Right. The arguments for keeping an ex-gov't official on the commission apply equally to allowing the current AG on the commission. Excellent response.

Um, Hank. He applied, but forgot to switch the avatar back from Hank-as-Indian Chief to Hank-as-Orthodox. Like most things in life, it's the little things that make the biggest difference.

Would you want Louie Freeh on the Commission?
Doesn't matter if you do. She will resign from the Commission by month's end. You heard it here first.

I'm kinda surprised that no one has posted on Bush's announcement re Israel yesterday.
Here's part of the text of his remarks:
- For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretences- either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed; and in return we hope that you, instead of thinking to influence us by saying that you did not join the Lacedaemonians, although their colonists, or that you have done us no wrong, will aim at what is feasible, holding in view the real sentiments of us both; since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.
Oops, that's not it.

I would not want either the current or former head of any intelligence agency on the commission. Nor would I want any current or former President, Vice President, or Attorney General on the commission.
I think Kean has already described the demand that Gorelick resign as "absurd." I'll take his view over yours.

Ty, this is why I don't read the book you recommend. Once I read that I'm sure I'll need to read something else or I'll be incompetant to seriously discuss shit and so on.

Let's make a bet. If she's gone by the end of the month, I won't post on the PB from May 1 to 7. If she's still on the commission on the PB on May 1, you don't post from May 1 to May 7. Unless she dies accidentally before May 1, in which case Hank won't post (under his "Hank" sock) from May 1 to May 7. Deal?

He's the former GOP Governor of New Jersey, and chair of the commission. Got the job when Henry Kissinger backed out. Imagine how much fun we'd all be having now if he were running things?

Deal, but to clarify, this means all socks, too, right?

Yeah, placing more stock in what the (Republican) chair of the commission says than in what, say Not Me, Fluffy/Hank, or a Repub senator from Wisconsin says. I don't know what came over me.
But the opportunity to see Hank form yet another brilliant assault on the order of "Gee whiz, but you're, huff, just... stupid! I mean, huff, er, really really stupid!" is always worth the candle.
