No, that makes sense- you can't sing "Orgasm Addict." And chicks hate the Pistols or Gang of four- so what else?

Interesting choice. With my daughter I went with "Angel from Montgomery" (hi Bilmore!!!) (<sniff> I miss him). For the Wonk Monster, I went with "Mannish Boy." Wonk Princess is pretty angelic, when she isn't a bitch straight from the bowels of Hell (teenage angst, how did any of us live through it?). The boy's pretty butch, so I guess I picked well with both of them.

The Israelis are pretty strict on the whole borderline personality disorder thing. I assume you got 4-F'ed?

Ty, fringey and I will bemoan the brutish cruelty that typify the Israeli response to the slightest provocation, and wring our hands and wail about why there is so much coverage of the lost Israel soldiers and none of the mulititudes of civilians slaughtered by the rampaging Zionist hordes. Spanky will worry over the effect on the economies and check the trade agreements to see if they will be impacted. Sebby will file a profanity-laced tirade against the insanity on both sides.

Sure, it'll fill a couple of pages, but we could mail it in by now.
I don't usually get into the israeli-palestinian stuff.

Isn't the problem that there is substantial support among the respective populations for what Hamas, Israel and Hezbollah are all doing?

yes. that and that much of the world equates the 3 actors.

Exactly. To put it in other terms, the majority of Israelis and Palstinians would both rather continue to fight than compromise. You can't broker peace when both sides view it as defeat.

In the sense that Ty spoke, they are all equal. Each Arab is willing to fight until the last Jewish baby is dead, and they are willing to use the last Arab baby to hide the bomb. Every Jew in Israel grows up learning the myth of Masada and vows that they to will fight until they can fight no more, and then kill off the few remaining survivors before they will accept defeat.

oh. it's like when you guys make up tax structures for hypothetical countries- I see- you don't need any tie to reality.

Because in the real world Israel left Gaza a little bit ago and your freedom fighters used the vantage point to kidnap a soldier and attack Israel.

How is shwarma prepared in Detroit?

In Houston, I was served pieces of chicken or beef that had been sliced off of a stack of breasts or steaks, each spiced, then layered with onions and potatoes and cooked on a vertical rotiserrie. The meat, etc. was sliced off the outer edge of the skewer. If you are familiar with the way pork is cooked al pastor in Mexico, it is virtually the same style.

Here is Chicago, chicken shwarma is generally white meat that has been stewed in a sauce of tomatoes, paprika, turmeric, sumac, and other spices until it can be shredded with a fork. Beef shwarma is virtually unheard of and where you can find it, it's ground meat with spices, cooked just like gyros, only generally drier and coarser in texture.

hmmm. maybe it's just a generic term for grilled meat- although its pretty universal here- it's not like yours- and lamb is as popular as chicken. I don't think it's cooked on a big skewer like gyros.

Generally (always actually) it's served as a sliced marinated and grilled meat- it is dry and with hummous (shwarma plate) or atop a salad or in a sandwich- pita wrapped around lettuce pickles and the meat.

Too true. This is the same sort of contemptible double-crossing bullshit that was pulled in WWII when the Germans left Normandy and the Allies used it for a base to keep pushing all the way to Berlin. I can't stand it when people don't fight fair.
