I do agree that the male characters are somewhat 2-dimensional -- basically, ideas of what women either think men should be like or are like. But I really liked Burke's character. I like George and I like the Chief. Hell, Alex is an interesting character as well. The McDreamy and McSteamy stuff is garbage, as was Izze's bed-ridden love interest.
I also like Christina, who is not your typical character. Izze is fine.
But what I really like about the show is that the minority characters aren't so stereotypical. They're just like everyone else, but they aren't written by a white guy who is trying to make them like everyone else, you know what I mean? And they are in positions of authority, without being the typical let's-throw-a-black-woman-in-as-judge-who-says,-"I'll-allow-it,-but-you're-on-a-short-leash,-counselor" type character.

The memory-loss, shaved-head, dual personality, murder, crazy people shit on Melrose seems distinguishable from Grey's. But maybe that only developed later.

Facial hair is more likely to get ingrown, maybe? I actually have often wondered this, and that was the only explanation I could think up.
Or, they are big babies and can't handle the pain.

You also have to grow your hair out pretty long (1/4 inch?) before it can be waxed and I dont think most men would want to walk around that scruffy most of the time.

surely handsome boy model can explain how a boyzillian would work but a face wax would not.

Yeah, what ever happened to him? He was same class as J. Phonenix and then disappeared off the radar.

Very disappointing, although the warm shaving cream and hot towels were nice.

When I lived in NYC, the barber shop across the street (9th bet 46/47) was pretty traditional. The SFC went there once for a haircut, and they shaved his neck with a straight razor. He said there was also a leatherman having his head and chin (straight-razor) shaved (leaving, of course, his enormous handlebar mustache). Maybe if you're in the neighborhood some time you could try it out. Then pick up a chocolate sourdough twist at Amy's Bread and think of me (and wave at the third-floor windows across the street, where my old roommate still lives).

Huh? If it weren't for women, we'd walk around scruffy all the time. Hell, I might not even get out of my bathrobe.

You're talking about shark-jumping territory. Who knows what they'll do on Grey's when it's shark-jumping time?

How far from this is Bailey's character? Other than being a full role, rather than an occasional judge.

exactly. In a couple of seasons, bree will become a new doctor, and it will be revealed that she has a metal plate in her head and is, in fact, Dr. Kimberly Shaw.

I think most men's morning beard would be long enough to wax. But I could be wrong.
In related news, I just tried a new waxer. She used a different kind of wax, which I think I prefer. I am shiny smoooth.
