Litigation strategies

Do any of you litigators talk trash to opposing counsel? I do and I wonder if I'm weird. ("Your brief is thinner than Paris Hilton on diuretics. L.Ron Hubbard reasons better than you.")

Mostly the responses are gaping stares.

Ordinarily I prefer to save those for the reply brief.

Wonking would be good, but it's taken

Where's the love for Marques? No Braylon no problem? A rookie QB playing in the Black Hole?

I hate games where both teams are out of it. But I'll give it a look. I like the Chargers on the money line . . .

Let's review my pre-year team o/u and futures bets.

Denver 5/2 to win AFC West -- Looking good. Should have bet much more than the $20 that I did.

Indy at 6/1 to win Super Bowl. Too early to say, but odds now are significantly lower, so that's a good thing. Wish I'd put more than $100, but as I said, too early to say.

Indy to win over 11.5 games -- done
Philly to win under 10.5 games -- done
Cinci to win under 8.5 games -- oops
Dallas to win under 8.5 games -- not looking good.
Rams to win over 8.5 games -- oops, but in fairness, the injuries have been ridiculous.
Titans to win over 6.5 games -- oops.
Packers to win over 7.5 games -- whoops.
Panthers to win over 9.5 games -- looking very strong.
Detroit to win under 8.5 games -- done and done.
Chicago to win under 6.5 games -- worst bet ever, but possibly salvaged by putting equal amount on Chicago at 3/1 to win NFC North.

On the whole -- it all comes down to Indy winning the SB.

Cooks Illustrated, right? I'm glad I scrolled before posting because I was going to say the same thing. Silpats are good; otherwise leave the silicone for increasing increasing your TITS!

I've been on a couple Al & Alma's cruises in the fall. They were with lawyers and not Vikings so they were considerably tamer. The downstairs level of the boat is enclosed and heated and they have clear plastic flaps that can be lowered in the upstairs level to block the wind. They may also be able to heat that level.

As may be expected, this is big news here in Minnesota. I haven't heard any analysis of why a person can be criminally charged for engaging in these acts during a private party. (Though said private party was on a public lake and there were cruise staff on board who were not part of the action.) The strippers apparently were flown in from somewhere else.

I think the whole sex for pay thing is what creates the problem.

What should I go see?

King Kong
Syriana
Brokeback Mountain
Narnia
Geisha
something else?

Also, I was going to propose that a drilldo henceforth be known as a Smoot, but of course that term is already in use.

Less: Good call on your NFL POTY. I'm sorry I doubted your expertise on the Raiders' suckitude. I had a nice Ohio teaser that made me some $$ today. This made up for my Houston-wants-Reggie-Bush teasers that lost. HOUSTON vs. SF in last game of the season -- should be an interesting game to watch.

Meanwhile, REX IS BACK. Look out NFC.

The crowd at the Texans game was very irritated to be playing a team that is apparently worse than we are. There were a lot of Reggie Bush signs up.

I'm hoping homefield advantage comes through on the last game of the season.

I saw Narnia last week and thought it was good. I was a little disappointed in some of the technical aspects of the film -- there were a couple places where it was really obvious the characters had been filmed on a blue (green?) screen and the background had been added later. I had expected better after LOTR -- the studio should have looked at the profits from Mel Gibson's "Passion" and figured they'd get even more of that audience plus people who would go just because the books are classics.

I intend to see King Kong, Brokeback Mountain and Geisha.

I can imagine that game setting a record for the number of punts.

The league, in the interest of maintaining the appearance of competition, should announce that the winner, rather than the loser, of that game will get the first pick in the draft.
