If one examines the mastheads and claims of such stellar organizations as the NYT, one sees that "fanciful" is the base requirement, really, of such labels.

(Although, in fairness, the Blair episode did serve to make their mission-statement claim that they "create news" much more accurate.)

Anyone know anybody like this?

The Restaurant

I have only started watching this, since the owner's bad behavior has made it fun in a train-wreck way.

Here's more good news about Rocco's from the Smoking Gun: bad health inspection.

Nicole Kidman & Lenny Kravitz? and Transsexuals

MSN's reporting that Nicole Kidman & Lenny Kravitz are a hot-n-heavy couple. She doesn't have to wear flats to soothe his fragile ego at least!

Some of the transsexuals on that documentary last night were very pretty and convincingly female. Others not so much--still looked like guys with stage makeup on. Perhaps the hormone treatments will help? And in good related news--now illegal to discriminate against the transgendered in 4 states with more considering it!

I saw that on Salon.com today. Seems like an odd coupling, but good for them! Saw him in concert last year and all I have to say is he is hot. The gossip I read said that they are renting a boat for a 3 week vacation together. I want one of those! The vacation, that is.

If only the cheerleaders had been totally naked

That, according to ESPN, would have made XFL work. Funny article but I think that Disco Demolition Night should have rated number 1. I cannot believe that they left out Mike Veeck's other funny promos (Tonya Harding Bat Night ).

edited to add that this is an article about bad decisions in sports just in case it wasn't clear.

If I had a laminated list, Lenny is the first listed.

Agreed. Anne (blonde paralegal) was quite feminine (looks like a friend of mine actually) as was the English brunette with the short hair. The blonde who worked in the clothing store much less so. Even at the end I couldn't see that big a change.

Laminated list

You see what I mean about the puffiness. But no, not really an intellectual crush, I spent a good deal of my university time wanting to jump him. He's got that tough-guy, man's man thing going on. 5-10 years ago, watching him kicking some ass in Commons was TOTALLY HOT. He was absolutely the sexiest man in politics.

Really a nice person though.
I had a friend who worked with a guy "Terry" who was going through the "transition period." He came dressed to work as a woman after weeks of hormone therapy. Problem arose when the guys didn't want him dressing in the men's locker room (they wore uniforms) because he was dressed and presented as a woman, and the women didn't want him dressing in the women's locker room (because technically he was still a man). It was tough on him/her so they made accomodations for him to dress in his own room. Friend quit long before his surgery, so don't know what happened post-op.

Edited to add, 3 cats is the absolute max that a person should have in 1 house. And even then, that's borderline.

That's funny because I wonder if the guys would have objected to sharing a dressing room if Terry had been a "real" female. I can somewhat understand the feelings of the women because Terry is still technically a man, dress or not. The response of the men is weak. If they feel threatened or disturbed by a man becoming a woman they should say it rather than presenting the feeble argument that they couldn't possibly bear to share a changing room with a woman -- "no way could I get comfortable with watching Pamela Anderson change/get dressed" yeah, right!

I guess that was the tough call. At what point do you cease to be a man? After the op? After implants? It was an interesting story to hear because this guy had been working there for years and was doing the hormone therapy unannounced. It was not until he started coming to work dressed as a woman that people were alerted to the fact that he was pre-op and would soon be completely female.

I know several. I met the first openly transgendered person I knew after I moved here and got back involved in the gay rights movement.

Now I would say I know about half a dozen who are transgendered, either post operative or going through the process, and lord knows how many who are transsexual.

Is FX the station that plays 90210 repeats 24/7?

Guess I'll need to find out, because the concept of this new reality show sounds kinda interesting -

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) -- Cable channel FX is going ahead with its first reality series, an import from Portugal where it is known as "Masterplan."

The series will follow an individual 24 hours a day, seven days a week who has agreed to turn over his life decisions to the viewers, who vote via phone and the Internet after each episode. FX will begin running seven one-hour episodes in its "Friday Night Fix" programming block in October. It has the option of ordering additional episodes, possibly with a different subject.

Full story here - http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/TV/0...eut/index.html

Of course if the choices are "should he go with the tuna salad sandwich or the pastrami on rye??!?" then maybe it won't be that good...
