Disagree on this one. If you can get within 20 rows of the court, it's much better being there for an NBA game.

Ready to Die is the first.
Life After Death is the Second.
Born Again was after his death, I think. But I don't own it.

Speaking of Biggie smalls, I heard on Howard (my source for news) that Lil Kim is in the slammer and getting some bad treatment. What is she in for?

I like it too, except for the parts with Nico.

In no particular order, here were my thoughts after some thinking about it, and some of which with RT may(will) disagree:
Arcade Fire: like Lyle Lovette's Large Band playing the Sugarcubes with a touch of Cirque de Soleil and maybe the Mekons. Incredible show, probably would be even better in a more reasonably sized venue.
Robert Randolf: Yeah he's overhyped , but the man can put on a show. At one point he and his drummer traded instruments and he played drums like I've never seen before (the drummer held his own on the steel guitar, too). His set was unfortunately plagued with technical difficulties, which obviously had him flustered by the end of the set, and will probably keep it off the air.
Wilco: To quote the guy jumping through the crowd near us: "If the next song rocks any harder than the last one, it may kill me." He survived, but barely. Seemed to be the single biggest crowd of the show, although we didn't stay for Coldplay (who were playing without an alternate headliner).
Lyle Lovett: The man is becoming something of the BB King of his generation, the consummate showman.
Buddy Guy: He's back. Looking and sounding better than I remember.
Bob Mould: No Husker Du, but he still rocked and was very tight.
Robert Earl Keen: Solid show, but not remarkable.
Rilo Kiley: Should have gone to see Brave Combo instead. It may have just been too hot, but I thought they were very flat. RT liked a lot, though.
John Prine: Unfortunately, his voice sounded like crap, but he's still a great songwriter. Following in Townes Van Zant's footsteps.
Lucinda Williams: Heard some of this set in passing, and she just didn't seem on. We watched Robert Earl Keen instead.
Keane: Sucked. We were passing time until the next set.
Jet: Sucked. Ditto.
Oasis: Heard part of the set as we left. Very not impressed.
Biggest disappointment was the complete lack of an attempt by ACL to control the dust, which was a really huge problem. I'm still coughing up crap. It wouldn't have killed them to spray down the grounds Saturday night.
Edited because I finally figured out how to spell consummate.

2. For NBA (and college hoops for that matter), TV angles seem to make the court look like its 3 times actual size. Seeing it IRL emphasizes how big those fuckers really are, and how little room there is to manuver.

I didn't realize that she reported to serve her sentence yet -- anyway, Kim was convicted of perjury, and got a year. As I learned yesterday (in an article about how Kim and others think that the perjury charge is a part of a general campaign by the police against hip-hop artists), the charge arose out of a shoot-out at a radio station between some of her friends and some friends of Foxy Brown-- she testified that she was not aware that two of her friends were present.

I just realized ...
That I broke one of my own cardinal rules, and I actually purchased something from a business that calls itself a "shoppe."
I am awash in shame.

We did not see the Black Crowes. We heard a few of their songs as we were walking back to our car, though.

Tangentically, I've always thought that 2 Live Crew should have named their song "The Fuck Shoppe" instead of "The Fuck Shop".

I fondly remember a trip to New Jersey in my friend's limo sometime in the nineties. We drank champagne in the back bc we are classy and her dad hooked us up and rocked out to bad pop music. Then we got out of the car and it was as cold as it ever gets in the lovely Meadowlands region. After a series of trips to the bathroom to stand under the handdryer and defrost, we eventually jsut stayed in the bathroom as it was the only warm place. Disgusting, but warm. Thats how cold it was. Then we said, why are we here and left.
Football- the most overrated sport ever. How Buffalo has a team, I will never understand. Boring and freezing arent exactly things I look for as a fan.

Looks like sebby may have already made his palooza to NY without you:
Guy #1: Dude, that chick is hot.
Guy #2: Man, I think I got a roll of duct tape somewhere with her name on it.

Look, there are only so many places that both sell adequate peanut brittle and are nearby when the impulse strikes. Don't beat yourself up about it.
