"Rap gets Eminem on anti-black list

Eminem, the white dude who appropriated hip hop, has copped to writing a racially inflammatory song that has come back to haunt him. The track - available at www.thesource.com - tells of his breakup with a black girlfriend in 1993.

"Black girls only want your money cause they're dumb chicks," Slim Shady raps. "Never date a black girl because blacks only want your money, and that s-- ain't funny ... black girls and white girls just don't mix, because black girls are dumb and white girls are good chicks."

The track was aired by Source magazine executives, David Mays and Raymond (Benzino) Scott, at a midtown press conference last night. Benzino said yesterday that they got the tape from "three white kids from Detroit [who knew Eminem and] walked into Dave's office and said 'This is the real Eminem, and we're tired of it.'"

He added that Eminem must be "held accountable" for the 10-year-old track: "Since Eminem made his music, every other black artist has taken a decline. Hip hop is being stolen from us. ...We want it back."

In his statement, Eminem fired back at Benzino, Mays and The Source, saying that they have had "a vendetta against me, Shady Records and our artists for a long time. The tape they played today was something I made out of anger, stupidity and frustration when I was a teenager. I'd just broken up with my girlfriend, who was African-American, and I reacted like the angry, stupid kid I was.

"I hope people will take it for the foolishness that it was, not for what somebody is trying to make it into today."

The Source used to be a great magazine until Benzino started aggressively using it to beef with other artists.

That shit is tired.

JUst out curiousity, because, of course, I heart you, what did you change the station to?

Indeed. This is the typical politics of destruction BS that is part and parcel of the Clinton legacy.

I don't think he has a problem buying the pitcher. It the filling it with beer part that you have to watch out for. However, I would agree with him to the extent that if the beer hose was turned on him, he should be entitled to keep the beer he caught in his pitcher.

If you had to choose, and death is not an option, who would it be???????

I invented metrosexuality in the 80s, long before Clinton even ventured forth from his trailer park.

Picture is amazing, especially for sports programming and the nature/tourism specials filmed in HD that they show on one of the demonstration channels...

Downside -- I really don't need an HD closeup of the surgically altered moonscapes that are some local news anchors' faces...
I never understood theneed for HDTV. I once read tht you could really get a good look at Cameron Diaz's acne with it. But if I can really get into look at some bizarro plastic surgery, now we are talking.

A lot of booze, period. When I come out of my blackout, I don't want to be told a single goddamned thing about what happened ever for my entire friggin' life, you understand?

I find Gest's right cheek implant mesmerizing. Its almost pointy. And he appears to have dabbed Nars Orgasm right on top of it. I also am enjoying his Faye Dunaway esque eyelift. I would have to go with Liz Taylor just bc her work is the most human (edited to add that she does bear a striking resemblace to Minnie Mouse). I also would need about a bottle of whatever Lester is linking to these days in an attemptt to be humourous.

Ms. Cates. Not even close. Wow. Not that Shannon's bad (I still remember fondly that MTV awards show where she wore a see through top and no bra - aaah.), but Phoebe is like the Mona Lisa to Shannon's "mere" Rembrandt etching.

And apropos of your HDTV conversation, I may be misunderstanding you, and I understand were talking about different cable companies here, but I was surprised at your assertion as to the cost of an HDTV tuner. My understanding is that a regular HDTV-ready digital cable box will act as a tuner (I don't have HDTV, do have digital cable - interestingly*, when I tune into the digital channels on my box, I get digital sound but no picture, which makes some sense because I run the sound directly from the box to the stereo, but my TV's not compatible, but I digress). Comcast hits me for a small rental fee (<$5) each month for the box over the cost of digital cable, and apparently I could buy one, but I've never looked into it.

Seperate question for cable Tivo users: does the Tivo unit replace the cable box, or is it in addition to (in which case, how does it control the tuning)?

* Not really. This is why I don't get invited to parties much, isn't it? I did check myself from posting a reply to the trademark discussion to note that the loss of a trademark to common usage involves the mark becoming generic rather than descriptive just so I could point out that the term ususally applied to the phenomena - genericide - is actually a misnomer because its not the generic aspect that is being killed, but rather the trademark. This is why I don't get invited to parties, definitely. I why my post count is low: this could be four posts.
