Some people have no appreciation for the classics.

Mtv Reality Shows

Anyone else watch Real World last night? I was glad that Jacquese stood firm on the No Quitting thing (I'm not considering that a spoiler because it was all over the previews). Way to let the spoiled brats learn a little thing about responsibility.

SPOILER

And the mocking on the no tooth girl was hysterical. Mean, but funny.

I also watched the Pimp Out My Car show and thought it was really cool. I'm glad that they agreed to pimp a chick out. Her car was pretty cool post-pimpin. Okay, the rims weren't my thing. I wonder how many people are running out to buy beater old American cars in order to try to get on the show.

And finally, labor unions have succeeded in pushing The Real World out of Philadelphia. realityblurred:

Quote:
Three weeks before production on The Real World Philadelphia was to begin, Bunim-Murray is taking the show elsewhere. The production company hired a nonunion construction company to prepare the house, which led to picketing of the site; two weeks worth of picketing and the possibility of protests during taping were apparently too much. A spokesperson for Bunim-Murray said only that "[a]fter considerable evaluation, we are disappointed to announce that Bunim/Murray Productions has decided not to shoot" the show there. Unions reportedly offered a deal earlier, but Bunim-Murray turned it down. A Teamster president said they were "not out to gouge anybody, but this is a union town." According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "The Greater Philadelphia Film Office worked years to bring The Real World to town." No word on what city might replace Philadelphia.
While I am generally pro-labor, I've seen unions do some fucked up things and this does not surprise me.

Visible Thongs = Dave Matthews Band

From Cary Tennis' Salon column today - http://www.salon.com/mwt/col/tenn/20...wed/index.html -

Quote:
We've run into a horrifying problem with the hip huggers [worn by our new co-worker]. Most of us are gay men, by the way, if that may be part of the problem. When she wears those low-cut jeans, we've discovered that she wears thong underwear. Each time she bends over the copy machine to replace paper we want to burn our eyes out with cigarettes to erase the memory of what we have seen.
Cary addresses current underwear trends and notes that boy shorts are replacing thongs...

Continental Vents

My wife bought me some Eurpoean suits recently which have what the tailor calls "Continental" side vents, as opposed to the usual middle vent. I'm not sure I dig these vents, but they tell me I'll fuck up the lines on the suits if I convert them toi center vents. My question is, are side vents considered guido-ish like double breasted suits?

This trend seems to have already disappeared, as has ass cleavage. Too bad b/c I liked the ass cleave.

And these union slobs wonder why all the construction, industry and just about everybody with money is blowing out of town for the burbs.

When there are no more jobs at all, what will they say? These low lifes can't pull this shit in the burbs. They don't have the jjuice out there.

Its sad. Ed Rendell really brought back Center City, but this sort of thing is undoing everything he did. The town is becoming a place to eat, see a concert and leave immediately thereafter. Its becoming a blue collar shithole ringed by outrageously overpriced burbs.

Side vents are both very current, fashion-wise and also very classic. I would just enjoy the suits the way they are.

I had to watch (and hear) those picketing guys bust out the bullhorns at 6:30 am every fucking morning on the corner across the street from my apartment. Bastards...

nice, too. My office-mate and I "ran" into him, literally. We were late for the reception and walked around the corner into the room too fast. We talked to him for a while. He pretended to be quite interested in what we had to say.

Right now, I think I would bet against this. Top three or two, yes, but not the winnah. Wonder who is the second best odds. Probably John.

Fantasia a Pretty Sure Bet on 'Idol'
Fantasia Barrino from High Point, N.C., is the 7-4 odds-on favorite
to capture the "American Idol 3" crown, according to an offshore
betting site.

Why doesn't someone sue them for business interruption? The Union lawyers I've dealt with ain't rock stars. Then again, getting a TRO in Philly is next to impossible. Perhaps Fed Ct. Bunim Murray is a foreign corp, no?

I have no real gripe with John Street, but I think we need somebody new to beat these unions down. They fuck up eveything.

Also, its time to set NE Philly free. Make the Miracle Whip Mile its own town. That's where all the goddamned union bastards live.

No. Very continental, which means not sicilian. Unless you take to wearing a pinkie ring. but how could you ever convert to a normal single vent without just totally fucking up the suit, let alone the lines?

Does he know how to get in touch with you? You may get to meet a former president.
