For the record (as if it matters), I was not being hostile with you. I was joking with you. At your expense is a fine characterization too. People do that here all the time. You made it personal. But you will continue to refuse to recognize this. Because it doesn't fit in with your characterization of yourself.
|
Why don't you post what you said and then tell me how it was a joke. It seemed to me that your post was imbued with sarcasm and irony, and so were mine.
From my memory the jokes I made at your expense were very similar to the joke you made at my expense. And I remember that the joke you made did not fit neatly into the standard definition of a joke.
Am I wrong?

Tell me about how your "jokes" in those posts were "imbued with sarcasm and irony". You are rich. Read your posts again and find the joke and point it out for me, okay? I'll do the same...
Here was the first post that you responded to:
Quote:
Well, based on prior dating threads, since what you most likely meant was "when we head to the strip clubs", it seems like "chasing g strings" might be a more accurate description. But "chasing skirts" is quite Spankiesque. Don't go changin'.
|
You had asked me if I would prefer the term "chasing tail" to "chasing skirts" and that was my response. I have nothing against going to strip clubs, but I guess that you assumed that I do (because you are wonderful at the assumptions) so you thought I sounded bitter when I was just making fun of the whole Belgrade Bimbo incidents.
Here's the second post you responded to:
Quote:
You may be sensing hostility. I have no idea. None was intended by me however, so that would be your problem, I guess. I find you amusing. Like a clown. Does Joe Pesci ever head out to chase skirts?
|
There I said I wasn't being hostile, then I made some stupid reference to a Joe Pesci movie. Not a great joke, but clearly trying to lighten the mood. You haven't seen the movie?
I'm not debating this with you any further, because I could care less what you think about me. The only reason I responded to you about this is because you actually asked me for my opinion about whether you take things to a personal level unprovoked. My answer to that question has not changed.

You started this whole discussion by criticizing the way I post. So don't try and put this on me that some how I imitated this whole thing looking for your opinion.
You were making jokes at my expense, so I thought it was funny to ask where the hostility was coming from. I thought it was playful banter.
Then like you said you denied the hostility by saying:

You don't think saying "I find you amusing. Like a clown" is not hostile. Is that a compliment?
I found it humorous that you couldn't help being hostile even when you were denying your hostility. I find that funny, and I thought it was funny to point it out to you.
And now when you are trying to defend it you say:
There I said I wasn't being hostile, then I made some stupid reference to a Joe Pesci movie. Not a great joke, but clearly trying to lighten the mood. You haven't seen the movie?
What? What about the reference to being a clown? Was that trying to lighten the mood? I also find that funny. I thought what I said was amusing. I am sorry you didn't.
Obviously you are sensitive about being accused of being hostile or being teased about having bad dating experiences. How would I know what kind of dating experience you have had? Clearly that was a joke. If you warned me those were sensitive topics I wouldn't have brought them up.

It. Was. A. Movie. Quote. What I originally wrote was "I find you amusing." I added the "Like a clown." Because it is a movie quote. A Joe Pesci movie (see? I even put that right there in the post - not really hiding the ball or anything). If you don't get that, I cannot help you. You have yet to provide any explanation for how your posts can or should be construed as witty banter. Seriously, that is the line you are going to stick to? Where is the joke?

Could you send up the other half? I have a screaming headache now.
And Hank, yes, people do abuse Xanax, just like people abused Valium. And before that, Quaaludes.

So if he wasn't attacking me for the only post I had made up till that time on the subject, why was he attacking me?

Sorry -- I didn't see this until now, and it seems moot, no?

How do most of the people here perceive my actions? You clearly have an opinion but are you sure they are shared by most of the board? That is quite a strong statement: "most of the peope here".
There are a few people here who don't like my posts but that is because, I believe like you, they just don't like to take in what they dish out. However, I could be wrong. A great many people have encouraged me to get involved on the fashion board. When I have gone a while without posting to the FB many posters have brought this up to me. Do these same people share your opinion? I don't think so. Anyway, what you are telling me is not the same message I am getting from other quarters.

well, this is the first time you have had an extended exchange and shown your inimitable arguing style over here. Gwink seems to be the most vociferous fan and she has not been around. So I think this is kind of a turning point/test point/decision point.

I don't think you are a drug abuser. my drug abusing source (besides me because I have never had a Xanax) would question why. she perceives the Xanax experience as pretty different than a nice Q-lude buzz.
where's Ironweed when we need him?

Fringey. A man can have 2 personas. I am despised over there since i speak the truth, yet beloved here since I speak the truth. can't Spank fit it?
