No. I'd love to get on a jury and see what happens in the room. Though it might make me quit my job.

Would you like for me to start checking the Virginia magazine for you in case you inadvertantly are moved there? Would you be more likely to move to Northern Virginia, Richmond or "Everywhere Else"?

Of course, anyone who claimed to have been molested was dismissed, but there were a bunch of those already and it felt wrong to lie about something like that when the woman next to me went up to the judge in tears. Maybe if I had said I do some white collar stuff in connection with the securities I would have been dismissed.
That ain't nothing. I got stuck on a 6 week (6 WEEK!!!) felony murder trial. Being a lawyer doesn't help at all. In fact, if you're with a firm (or at least a decently sized one), I think it hurts because they know the firm will give you the time.

You don't need to PM me, although it will give me that certain frisson if you do. Just read the book and start posting whenever about it whenever that starts.

Do they let you out if you're a trial lawyer?

My fave jury selection story goes like this........

While at my biggest big law I'm involved as behind the scenes on a trial of a grandma against a big company for copyright and trade dress. Our trial guy decides only he'll be in court. any help will come outside during breaks AND he dresses almost shabby. His idea is to convince it's David v. Goliath and the Grandma can only afford some 1800 lawyer schmuck. We thought the other side would have 3 or 4 lawyers in court all day every day.

Prospective jurors come in, and the judge asks "do any of you have relatives at either lawfirm?" one says, "my BIL, Jack Doe, works at a downtown firm, but I don't know the firm's name."

Judge asks if JD works at either firm- the bad guys say no, my guy says "I don't know your honor, there are too many people at my firm, I'll have to check."

Cover blown. But at least I got to wear a good suit and since at the Plaintiff's table.

Yes, I have always had an affinity for NoVA. Stay alert on that front. Indeed.

Carry on.

I like it, but like RT I've almost always left a state before they summon me.

All, it wouldn't be fair not to. Although not all of them went to lawschool. I think one was a paralegal.
