Confirmation from an official source:
- "Because the labor force is constantly expanding, employment must be growing moderately just to keep the unemployment rate steady. For example, if the labor force is growing at the same rate as the population (about 1 percent per year), employment would have to rise 110,000 a month just to keep the unemployment rate stable, and larger job gains would be necessary (and are expected) to induce a downward trend in the unemployment rate."
2004 Economic Report of the President, page 94
linky
Kind of embarrassing that the President is bragging about having created 366,000 jobs since last fall. Maybe my bank will call me and brag about the interest rate on their passbook savings accounts.

Dunno. Why don't you look at his site and see? Not the sort of thing he usually blogs about, though.
My take is that it's irrelevant. Lefties are too irate at this President, and too conscious of the difference it may make. Nader won't have the same frisson of naive rebellion that he did the last time.

I agree. Two of my friends who are gay get absolutely irrate when they see the gay rights parades that are little more than freak shows in many cities. They are both serious professionals and openly gay and feel that some of the antics of the very visible fringe groups in the gay rights movement only harms the cause.

Advice, consent and/or absence from session.
By the time he's done, the President will have stacked the various Circuit Courts of Appeals with more recess appointments.
Was advice and consent one of the things that changed on 9/11?

You don't think he stands a good chance of inheriting the Dean wing of the party? Or did they all sober up?

No, 9/11 changed the rule on fillibusters. This came after.

The ass metaphor fixation is spreading.
From Wonkette:
Quote:
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay: "Americans have been tolerant of homosexuality for years, but now it's being stuffed down their throats and they don't like it."
Too true! Most Americans actually prefer to take it in the ass.
DeLay says gay unions will be 'central' issue [KnoxNews.com]
|
Please note: DeLay's Americans have been "tolerant" of homsexuality for "years" only in the sense that the less-than-a-year since June 26, 2003 includes dates in both 2003 and 2004.
Meanwhile, Bilmore, Slave and sgtclub continue to believe the core of the party is libertarianism.

Take a page out of Bilmore's playbook and acknowledge that this cute little manuver will be fucking your side in the ass (yay!) during your lifetime.
Also, Bilmore's not raising his kids Christian so there's a greater than 50% chance they'll vote Dem when they turn 18. Scary thought.

It will, and the new fillibuster rules will be fucking yours, and America is worse off on both accounts.
