Hmm. I was considering carrying on (i.e. flirting) with you, Ms. Puppy, but your mean-spirited post has made that possibility far less likely. Indeed.

As an aside, here is someone from my laminated list -

She looks much better in Pirates of the Carribean. In this picture, I just want to give her a cheeseburger. And a milkshake.
She just looks pre-pubescent to me. NTTAWWT. Well unless you want to have sex with her.

I do think she's quite attractive in a very very lanky way; it's a bit skeletal for me but it looks fairly natural (no lollipop-head issue).
And most Brits are very lanky anyway. I recall commenting on their gangly-ness the last time I was there. Both the men and the women. Plus, we're just used to fatter people over here.

Yes, like Fergie. And Princess Di before she had anorexia or whatever it was.

You think Brits are skinnier than Americans? Did you actually enter a pub, take a train, or hell, leave your hotel?

Its called FHM. I read all three of those mags, along with Newsweek, the NYTimes, Atlantic Monthly, my wife's Smithsonian from time to time, Rolling Stone, Time... oh, and Playboy. I used to get the Economist, but it's a bit too pricey to justify.

Stuff is getting dumber by the month, but Maxim has remained rather fresh. Now that Playboy has Maxim's old editor, its getting more and more like Maxim, which is a good thing, since no one wants to read about how to smoke a pipe, decorate a bcahelor pad or store jazz lps anymore. Atlantic is fucking great. This month's bit on the last minutes of the space shuttle Columbia is riveting. I have no idea why I get Newsweek and Time, since they copy each other every issue. I started getting them years ago, never filled out any renewal forms, yet they don't stop coming... same with Rolling Stone, which I wish would stop, because it stinks.

If you don't giggle at Maxim of FHM, you simply have no sense of humor. Hell, most chicks find it more amusing the guys.

Dude, I don't even know the chick, but you need glasses. Those are some fantastic abs she's sporting. Whoever she is, she's a spicy meatball.

Because I love the movie so much, I read S&S for the first time recently. The movie stuck close to the language (Emma Thompson did an amazing job adapting it), and I was fascinated by some of the backstory and character development she had to leave out.
It's the first movie I ever bought on DVD. Emma Thompson's adaptation was fabulous, and on the DVD, I watched it through with her commentary, which was most illuminating.

I couldn't believe she left out Willoughby's "explanation" scene -- although I wouldn't leave out how she weaves in the explanation, as it involves the dreamy Mr. Rickman, and it works really well. JASNA types usually like the Emma Thompson adaptation the best of all the Jane Austen adaptations (you wouldn't believe the volume of commentary these adaptations produce among the JASNA set... well, then again, you might.)

Here he is again...

Unfortunately I heard a rumor that he does not meet my height requirements.

re: Maxim, Stuff, et al. They were pretty funny when they started out. I think they sorta ran low ideas and are now just getting by on girly pictures and schtick. Too bad because they had promise.

[Apparently only scruffy pictures will post here. I'm not sure if this is some sort of conspiracy.]

Given your avatar and avowed world mission, I assumed that you would pick The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai.

I find that you can justify almost any absurd proposition (especially if it deals with foreigners) if you claim to have read it in "the Journal".

E.g. "This chutne chive Pate is delicious...I read in the Journal that Uzbekistan almost went to war with Tajikistan over a dispute concerning the proper ingredients to chutne chive pate. Luckily they took it to the WTO instead."

Vanity fair ain't bad. Really in-depth articles.
Harper's Bazaar? My wife gets that. Isn't it a chicks' fashion mag?
I leaf through Utne while in line at Whole Foods. Don't care for it.
Wired and Natl Geo blow.
The New Yorker isn't sensational enough.
Consumer reports might be the most boring magazine ever... "Hey, I learned which is most practical and economically sound microwave on the market!" Great. Good for you.
