I called my congressman, and he said quote:

  • Worst Campaign Idea Ever?

Hoosier congressional candidate speaks at birthday party for Hitler, in Chicago

CROWN POINT, Ind. - If fans of Hitler held a party, and a candidate for federal office attended, would anybody notice?

    Apparently, yes.
How could you fail to include his defense?
  • "That's the risk you have to take to get your point across," Zirkle said. "If the Black Panthers or the Jewish Zionists want me to speak about these issues, I'll do it."

If he can't control his own party, how is he going to run the country?

Not a phrase I expected to see deployed in McCain's defense in this context.

Not sure how this will bode for McCain's "regional manager" style of campaign structure.

Substitute 'he" for "Obama" and "party" for "personal advisors" - and you have a fairly similar question.

Power is gone and Goolsbee was misquoted by the Canadian ambassador, so Obama fares pretty well in that comparison.

Hoosier congressional candidate speaks at birthday party for Hitler, in Chicago

CROWN POINT, Ind. - If fans of Hitler held a party, and a candidate for federal office attended, would anybody notice?

    Apparently, yes.

U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler's birthday.

Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.

When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn't know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it.

"This is just a great opportunity for me to witness," he said, referring to his message and his Christian belief.

He also told WIMS radio in Michigan City that he didn't believe the event he attended included people necessarily of the Nazi mindset, pointing out the name isn't Nazi, but Nationalist Socialist Workers Party.

I'm just sorry that it wasn't a Dem. I'd love to see how Ty spun this as not a negative.

I doubt anyone is taking him too seriously: http://wonkette.com/search/zirkle/

McCain has a state party that is running an ad he considers* unfair. Obama supports and hires people that hate white people, America and Israel. And you count Obama on top. Got it.

RT. Still think my post was weirdest?

*the ad isn't even unfair. it may be an area McCain would rather avoid, but the only thing it covers is what the guy's minister said.

You are technically right, Hank, and that explains the picture adequately -- but that was sure as hell an anti-Obama ad. Coming two weeks or so before the NC primary.

Seriously.

You will also note that the various images there do hit a hot button or two, especially in a State like NC.

I doubt that was unintentional, but I would (honestly) not suggest it was motivated by racism -- just a desire to do something they hope will be effective.

I understand McCain's planning to appoint Hagee Ambassador to Israel.
