So in most circles, the "disguise" might be a bit thin, but for a trooper, the change was radical.

[Former b-i-l was a state trooper. Oh the fun those guys have! sunny would love them!]

[ETA: apparently sunny wouldn't love them. Tis a shame. They could stand to get laid.]

I've only used a coke can once or twice - there was a really good head shop in town, so everyone had proper equipment.

I am a strong proponent of the coke can. You can get really fat hits out of it. It definitely beats the homemade tin foil bowl which always winds up firing a burning ember down your throat. The soda can is the Rolls Royce of homemade emergency bowls.

The bathtub bong is only for the ambitious. That's way too much work.

Hmmm...probably not....I've never dated anyone who didn't do drugs...you know what they say about opposites attracking...on the whole, I've dated some pretty non-boring characters...

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

The truth is somewhere in the middle, but the article (and the discussion over on the Stalin boards about it) really smacks of "I worked so much harder when I was a young lawyer" but ignores the fact that the hours were less and the dollar was worth a lot more then. First years not being psyched about $125k jobs anymore is just the market working, it's a hell of a lot less money than it was ten or even five years ago.

Sure, there are the the ones who really have no life outside of memorizing the FRCP and are the kinds of law students, and now lawyers, who we all love to hate, but's that not all of them.

I think that there are enough of them just trying to give their superiors a good impression so that we don't catch on that they're depraved druggy drunk gamblers who can't wait to get off work so that they can go to a bar or a party and get laid, high and drunk. Like the rest of us. In my experience, I see people opening up more to mid-level associates once they realize that, at most firms, they really don't have very much power at all over hiring, firing or the future of the firm unless they become partner.
When the opportunity arises to learn a new technique or application, or attend a seminar, a colleague always responds with, "Great! I can add it to my resume." Em is boring too. Nice, but boring. I don't think they would ever try a neti or take a bong hit.

I, too, have found that the mid-market hotels are the ones that provide standard services and don't come up with bizarre new ways to charge you.
Yeah, the richy-rich hotels are the worst on all the fees, in every aspect of their business, mainly because so many people staying there are on expense account, and don't care. To them I still say fuck you.

But cheers to the USAir shuttle for still providing free beer and wine.

How many people rat out their former pot smoking buddies anyway? If approached by the FBI (or DEA), and asked, would you really answer "yeah, X and I smoked some righteous bud back in the day. good times, good times."?

(in fact, if anyone did say that, I think there's be a pretty persuasive argument that he was so wacked out of his mind that he must have you confused with someone else)

You should try the drugs. I mean, there's no reason not to. I'm not advocating hard shit like blow or meth. Just smoke some pot. It's really quite pleasant. I'm not kidding. i mean this in all honesty. The pot is just a wonderful high. And if you like that, try the mushrooms and the acid.

Mushrooms have actually made me smarter. I can't explain this, but having eaten them frequently since age 18, I have noticed that every time I take them, I learn something. You pick little nuances about the way people behave and the way life operates around you which give you a better outlook on the world. You're not as stressed.

That's why the govt doesn't want you to take psychedelics. They tear apart the stage that's our reality. It's hard to take the gaping asshole yalping about a case seriously when you consider his utter lack of significance in the larger scheme of things.
