Didn't someone post this a while ago, and didn't I make some reference that my strange, cone-shaped penis may help me after all? Maybe I lucid-dreamt that.

That was I?
I did that.

It was part of the English curriculum. I needed a class that met on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon and this class met those requirements. I was very naive and had no idea that it was a class full of people who'd done acid and shrooms and other various drugs and just wanted to talk about their trips and read Carlos Castaneda or whatever the hell that weird author was. We also read Frannie and Zooey in that class. I never really understood why. One of our assignments was to meditate several times a week and keep a journal about how the meditation affected our lives.

The wiki entry describes "sleep paralysis" as such:
"During REM sleep the body is paralyzed by a mechanism in the brain, because otherwise the movements which occur in the dream would actually cause the body to move. However, it is possible for this mechanism to be triggered before, during, or after normal sleep while the brain awakens. This can lead to a state where a person is lying in his or her bed and he or she feels frozen. Hypnagogic hallucinations may occur in this state, especially auditory ones. Experiencing sleep paralysis is a necessary part of WILD."
Happens to me all the time and freaks me out when I think I'm awake and can't move. It only happens when I'm on my back. In fact, I may only dream when I'm on my back.
|
That's happened to me too. For me, the secret of breaking the paralysis is to move my toe.

That is because I am big and powerful and spend a lot of time resting, to aid digestion.

I took a poetry seminar like that. The teacher encouraged us to expand our minds before class, which was held in her house off campus. Then we had to read our poems. I read plagiarized Nirvana lyrics through most of it and got a C. It was pathetic. One guy stole from Public Enemy and another stole from Guns & Roses. Considering they charged thousands of dollars for the silliness gives me an appreciation of how much further a truly creative and unethical person could exploit the American consumer.

Has anyone else had a lucid dream? When I was younger, I would occasionally be able to consciously determine that I was dreaming (mid-dream), and then sometimes control the dream. I just read the wiki entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream) on it and it doesn't seem that rare.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do it in quite awhile, but I recently became "lucid" in a dream, but wasn't able to control the events.

Sort of on-topic... Is there anything better than being woken up at 3:00 to by the person sleeping next to you to have sex? It's like you're asleep still, but fucking. You forget how good that is when you have a kid.
Sex is always better in that state because your mind is so clear. All you can think about is fucking.

I confess I am also intrigued and a bit confused -- it seems to be a shape that would be not exactly ergonomically sound.

You BASTARD! There goes the rest of my work morning.
ETA does having a kid ruin that because both people are too tired to wake up? It seems like having a kid would be more likely to destroy the spontaneous during-the-day sex.

Things to do in Boston When it's Raining
1. Go to Dunkin Donuts. Be amazed by the paucity of their donut selection in comparison to the last time you were in a Dunkin Donuts (only 4 varieties of -filled donuts???). Get angry that they've substituted making the donuts for making the muffins and bagels. Fume. Eat a lemon-filled donut. Wipe powder off your clothes, hands, neighbor, table, nose, etc.
2. Go to the Institute of Contemporary Art.
3. ???
Well, I've made it through item number 1. Off to do 2.
