Am I the only person who assumes that, when a big city cop car turns on its lights to get through traffic/a traffic light, the driver is only doing so not b/c he's responding to something, but b/c he just doesn't want to deal with the traffic/light?

Cops are dirtbags. I can't imagine what it's like to be black and have a South Side cop stop you or pull you over.

Overheard at a breakfast place in Lincoln Park:

Cop to hostess right as he walks in (w/2 other cops): "It's fucking hot in here; turn the goddamn AC on." Then they proceeded to eat for free.

Oh, I think Yankee fans should LOVE him. He left Boston for more money to become a Yankee. All of the goodwill he earned in Boston is gone. No one in Boston will care that he was one of the most popular players on the Sox first World Series championsip in 1000 years now that he went to the Evil Empire. They will hate him. This signing disgusts Sox fans. He will get booed in Boston. He never would have had to pay for a drink in New England for the rest of his life (even had he gone to, say, the Angels). But b/c he signed with the Yankees, he'll get berated out of the bar. Because of this, Yankee fans should embrace him and remind Sox fans of how awesome he is (even if he's not). Rub it in their face that you stole one of their beloved players. It'll drive them nuts.
That all sounds great, but I don't like him. And frankly, I don't give a shit about how Boston fans feel about him. I want to like my team. We don't need extra stuff to bother Boston fans with. They do it to themselves. All we have to do is win. But I fucking hate Damon. Can't we eat a large part of his contract and trade him, straight-up, for Hunter?

Maybe they got it off a statement, although I shred my statements. Maybe they got it off some place that has my credit card information on file. Or maybe they are high tech and hacked into a site where I placed an online order recently. I don't know. They did not get the physical card, and so it was kind of scary that they managed to get the information, although I am pretty careful with it.

Anyway, I called the credit agencies and put fraud alerts on my cards and went to the police station and filed a report, so I've done pretty much all I can do. For NYPD, they were extremely nice to me, which I was not expecting.
Your other cards are probably fine. This happened to me about a year ago. What they have now is an extra swipe thing that records all of the card info. Crooked employees swipe your card when you pay for something and then swipe it again on this other strip (usually under the counter) to steal the info. You have to watch exactly what they do with the card, and if the swipey thing isn't right there on the counter, abort!

They know the amounts to spend, though. My thief charged $5 grand in jewelry in Parsippany, NJ or some shit.

Cops never pay to eat. Ever. They are worse than the mob with the shake-downs. I used to work at a pizza shop and they didn't even make a move to pull out a wallet. The first time I insisted they pay, the owner asked me if I was trying to ruin him. And God help the small-business owner that doesn't contribute to the PBA.

I like when they park wherever the fuck they please during lunch. My favorite is when they just decide to park on the sidewalk. They can all suck it.

He can hit, he can run and he can catch, but I know about 15 eleven and twelve-year olds that can throw a ball father than he can.

The other alternative is to charge up every card you have to the limit so that the thief couldn't buy a fucking gumball.

I am convinced that yesterday in NY, the cops did everything they could to create maximum gridlock. They blocked off consecutive E-W and N-S streets forcing everyone to the thinnest streets downtown. All for effect I believe.

They walled off multiple exits in Grand Central, only to create a long line of pedestrians and showed the news cameras where to go for effective photos.

I had understood that the $5000 computer was a Christmas present from you to me. Or that you would have thought of it as such when you found out that I inadvertantly placed the order using your credit card information, which I just happened upon in your apartment one day when you weren't at home. Way to get the coppers after me.

So much for our internet gf relationship. Sigh.

You overheard this? Was this recent? If so, how fucking fat must he have been to want the A/C in the middle of winter?

Your computer is from a much classier place than Sears. Do not worry. Internet gf relationship still on!

But I would have thought you would have picked a better fake name than "Paula Pauls" to place the order. I would have picked "Sandy Beach" or something a little more creative. I'm disappointed, Paula.

Not recent. But all Chicago cops are fat.

Today was ten times better. I've hitched in from Brooklyn both days and it beats the hell out of paying for a cab. I may be murdered by Friday, but I doubt it.
