Maybe he should buy the New York Yankees.

Well, first there will be the appeal. Any bet on the grounds (I haven't been following closely enough to have ideas)?
He well could be in jail when Bush leaves office. And, of course, he doesn't need to be in jail to be pardoned.

Given that Cheney' ain't dead yet, this may actually make Dole more likely.
|
FWIW, if Cheney is indeed forced to step down, I would lay decent money that some sicko left-wing moonbat immediately attempts to kill the President.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they were concocting a scheme such as this on DU as I type this.

I don't see Cheney stepping down anytime soon.
However, perhaps if we could get the VP Manse relocated to Room 308 at the "new building" at Walter Reed he'd have some incentive to vacate.

A word picture
Photojournalist returns from Iraq. Observations on how to be a vegan in a war zone, the Sri Lankan contractors and being embedded with the troops.

1) A pardon need not wait for an appeal
2) He could be put in jail during the appeal, like martha stewart.
That said, I'm guessing he gets time (18-24 months range, but one has to look at the guidelines), stays free pending appeal, and is pardoned before the appeal is resolved.

I think the DOJ has been making a good case that these guys weren't following policy.
Specifically, the DOJ policy of providing Republican candidates with inflamatory information about their Democratic opponents being under investigation whether they were or not. After all, they were at least guilty of being Democrats.
So, it's clear Heather Wilson is going to come up on ethics charges - who will be the designated "scooter" who will take the fall for DOJ?

It looks to me like Libby is going to take the fall again. His conviction is going to push this hearing to the middle pages.
FWIW, a Wall St. J. article suggests at least McKay was taking the approach suggested by RT--drift away quietly--until his performance came up.

Weren't they all? If Senators hadn't been asking questions about this, no one would have suggested that the prosecutors had done something wrong. They weren't speaking out until they were trashed for political cover.

She's an idiot. Domenici at least had the savvy to avoid actually saying the words "sealed inictment."

weren't a lot of the fired guys from Law Schools below the top 5? I would like to fire all the non-Harvard* lawyers here for performance reasons. They are incompetant when compared to a Harvard lawyer as the standard. Maybe someone at the helm finally had enough?
*exceptions for lawyers from Canada's Harvard.

Hmmm
I never thought a Tyler Durden link would be apropos for the Board, but this one was damn funny.
Quote:
Kanye West has now officially agreed to perform in Al Gores Live Earth extravaganza concert, a global benefit concert set for July 7 that will be staged on all seven continents. In a related story about the importance of reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and how committed our famous celebrities are, Kanye West is flying a chef from London to Manhattan to serve him lunch at a business meeting tomorrow. CNN says:
"For a feast of onion bhajees, chapati breads, biryanis, pappadums, a specially prepared fish dish and vegetables on the side, the bill will top $3,900, plus travel and accommodation for the restaurant's head chef … The meal will be prepared, cooled, shrink-wrapped and packed in dry ice in the British Raj's kitchens and -- along with head chef Kaysor Ahmed -- will be helicoptered from Wales to London's Heathrow Airport on Tuesday. From there, the chef is to hop a flight to New York -- monitoring the food's temperature all the way -- clear customs, and head for Manhattan, where the meal is to be served during a meeting Wednesday."
Finally, a type of activism I can get behind. The kind where you don’t actually have to do anything and make no sacrifices whatsoever. In fact, you actually make things much worse. In this spirit, I went by a local bikini car wash being held by some high school cheerleaders and told them all to "fuckin' blow me", because I think it's wrong that they would stoop to such tawdry tricks to raise money. And also because I felt they should blow me. Then I went back in line and said the same thing again. On trips 3-7, I even pointed to my penis in case there was some confusion. Trip number 8 shouldn’t count because I was actually in a Taco Bell drive through and trips number 9, 10, 11, and 12 - 22 were inconclusive because, even though I had my pants off, the bikini cheerleaders pretended to not see my car.
Luckily its being held again tomorrow and by then I should have some more data about reducing our global footprint.
