Okay, you piqued my curiosity here. How did the women know the rich guys were rich as opposed to the comparatively poor boys? Were they better dressed? Better groomed? Threw more cash around? Ordered top-shelf liquor vs not? Was it a confidence thing? What was it that got them more play, and was it really strictly wealth/income driven, or something else that might correlate with that factor? Or something else entirely?

You can just tell. I suppose a lot of it has to do with breeding and background. For example, poor people, even when spending inordinate amounts of money on clothes, still come off as, well, poor people trying to dress rich. I suppose it may in part be a confidence, thing. But mostly, I think it is all the intangibles that go hand in hand with being wealthy. If you come from a poor background, you can throw money around all you want and engage in whatever other gaudy and ostentatious behaviour, and the only people you are going to fool are other poor people.

I see gorgeous women who are irritatingly vacant. To me, they are not hot. My friends may still wish to bang them given the opportunity, but there is no ardent pursuit.

I think the number of truly hot women (dimes) is the same as it has always been. The complete package in terms of body, face and attitude has always been very rare. But it's all relative. I think we're getting pickier now too, since it's so easy to enhance your looks.

I think that we're exposed to less truly hot women as we get older because the truly hot women we knew or may have been exposed to have inevitably moved on to exciting things (that's the way it works for the truly hot). They have opportunities.

And let's face it, the older you get, the less hot you are. So, as you age, you're exposed to fewer and fewer dimes.

But, I think there are more 8s and 9s than ever before. This is because women who are really 6s and 7s can have surgery to fix their flaws and enhance their bodies, pushing them into the 8 and 9 range. If you were a thin girl in the 80s with a flat chest and a big nose, you were stuck in 6 land. Now, you can get implants and a nose job and you instantly have a great body and a nice face.

Concur. Poor people also say things like "classy" (except for the poor people here who were educated about the giveaway effect of that word by Yours Truly). Poor people also tend to speak in ear bending dialects (except for those from the south where the rich have accents too but its all annoying anyway)>

Depends. If someone's openly vulgar about making a big deal out of having money, I would assume he's virtually unlayable otherwise and that's all he's got going for him. Older money can do this just as well as new.

It could have been the extremely expensive watches, but it was more telling that after the women spoke to the guys that they gravitated to the bank, rather than the extremely hot musicians.

We were all drinking the same drinks and throwing money around (well, they were), so that wasn't the clue. I think it was the "so what do you do" question that usually sealed the deal.

Unfortunately for me, I always had a weakness for the pretty boys.

Class distinctions, in terms of "breeding" aside, I think you are assuming a lot of facts not yet in evidence.

For example, we don't yet know whether e/o's friends are old or new money. Furthermore, we don't know whether the women in question are attracted to the qualities that go with "good breeding" as you say, or merely more interested in the guys bank, regardless of where it comes from. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but in a bar or club setting, it's less likely to make a difference. I will agree with one thing you say and that is that you are more likely to see vulgar displays of wealth from the newly wealthy as opposed to people who come from wealth. However, since we don't yet know who we are dealing with, I think your answer assumes too much.

• Can that dog see?
• Dude, it's a dog with dreads!
• Look, it's a walking mop!
• Can I buy a bag from the rasta-dog, mon? (insert fake Jamacian accent here)
• What did you do to make its fur like that?
• A poodle and a what...?

When the Displaced Dog and the Puppy, who hasn't dreaded yet, go on a walk, most people stop us because of the DD and then notice the Puppy afterwards.
