It's a beautiful song, but only for use in the bedroom if your mate finds despair and loneliness arousing. So basically Less, and I don't see him being a big folk rock fan.
Actually, I was going to recommend Joyful Girl or Napoleon by Ani DiFranco.

Jane Siberry - Hockey (preferably the live version that iTunes does not have.).

I know the feeling. I feel the same way about Pere Ubu's "Cloudland." Which has the additional obstacle of being out of print.

Fuck fuck fuck FUCK! I should have just stolen it from my college roommate.

Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

I just realized that we got through all twelve days of Christmas without Lester's annual posting of the lyrics to "Fairytale of New York."

I was wondering why there was more bah humbug than usual in my Christmas merrymaking.

The Smithereens, "In a Lonely Place"
Sam Cooke, "Laughin' and Clownin'
Crowded House, "Into Temptation"
David Wilcox, "Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song"
Eric Matthews, "Fanfare"

Oh, and I'm not going to answer the damn questionnaire, except to say that the word "nubile" rocks, and I would want to be a Malouf brother if I wasn't a lawyer. Hell, I am a lawyer, and I'd rather be a Malouf brother.

Those are lyrics in the live version (which is available on CD). Jane Siberry, not the kind of music you normally put an Explicit label one.

You can fool some people sometime, but you can't fool all the people all the time.

I have known a number of people with dreadlocks, one of whom I socialized with quite regularly. It is a myth that you cannot wash your hair with dreads. You just have to be gentle about it.

I also think it is a myth that Rastafarians are forbidden to wash their hair, but I do not have the time to Google that now.

Not because it's the best song ever, but because it's the perfect antidote for the winter blues: "Aloha Honolulu," Poi Dog Pondering.

All common, but if you are going Sesame Street on us, "Put Down the Duckie" (W. Marsalis, D. DeVito, et al.) is clearly superior to "C is for Cookie"
Little Richard's "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is not only the best Sesame Street song ever, but one of Little Richard's best--and he wipes the floor with almost everyone, anywhere, ever, for a sheer good time.

I'll stick with "Put Down the Duckie".

His rendition of "Rubber Duckie" is far superior. I will comment no further on this subject -- and, I shoudn't have to.

I meant no washing as part of the religion, not the hair care. I'm sure your friend is quite well-groomed, unless its late and he's been drinking.
Simple google provides no answer to whether the religion still forbids hair washing. the hits I find are more blogs, and I suppose there is no authority, such as the Vatican, to speak with certainty.
Maybe they can wash now, the way Catholics can now eat meat on Friday.
Washing or no washing, their living god, died.

He, and all of the rest of the guest stars, were just pale imitations of the real things - Kermit, Elmo, CM, Oscar - brought in when the real stars' contracts said they'd done enough songs for the month.

Okay, maybe not "pale" . . .

Personally I think "Put down the Duckie" is far superior to "Rubber Duckie"

Further, there is always"I Love Trash," which is a classic.

VH-1 Bands Reunited (w/Spoilers)

So, I watched this last night. The first band they attempted to reuinte was Berlin. The show was pretty entertaining. I'll probably try to catch the rest of them this week. A few random observations:

1. Fifteen to twenty years seems to be a fairly good time to get past some of the animosity and rock star crap that usually causes these bands to fall apart. The majority of the group seemed genuinely happy to be together. Hopefully some of the other groups will present more of a challenge. I would like to see some more bickering, please.

2. The show's use of old interview clips juxtaposed against current interviews/events was good. The most unintentionally funny (ironic) moment was when they showed footage of a younger John Crawford saying that "Orange County is for people who want to be just like everyone else", which he meant in a clearly derogatory sense. This was played right before they found him in, you guessed it, Orange County.

3. It's a good idea to go after the original lineups, rather than later ones. Best moment was when the rest of the group was reunited with the original drummer (I forget his name right now), who had walked away unannounced before the recording of the second album and abandoned his life as a musician entirely. He also basically kept it a secret from everybody he knew, apparently because he had "found God". It was pretty interesting to watch him rehearse with the others, considering he hadn't picked up drumsticks since then.

4. The band was surprisingly good for the short amount of time they had to rehearse (if the seven day premise is to be believed.)

5. For a woman in her 40's, Teri Nunn is still pretty hot.

Romeo Void tonight.
