My observation of tacky behavior by straight men in gay clubs did not preclude the possibilty of similar tacky behavior by straight women in straight clubs.

Are Minis sold in America these days different than the Minis they used to sell in Europe? Because a friend who grew up in Europe said that Minis were basically the equivalent of the Yugo there when she was growing up, and now thinks it is so funny that they are being marketed as hot little cars here. I suspect we will soon see the Smart Car as the next hip thing in tiny cars. Having said all that, I have heard that Minis have great handling, and I think a Mini would be a good car if you did all your driving in an urban environment. I'm not sure they really work for the over-6' set, though.
I should probably also note that I don't give a fuck about cars.

Hon, if you'd like to talk about forced-induction transverse-mount engines, please do, but I suspect the best you've got for this conversation is, how well does the Cooper match my tie, which, while fashion-oriented, sorta leaves me cold.

cooter please. My family would never drive an English automobile. They are always having problems and are ridiculously expensive to maintain. As for the mercedes, the pai parents last owned those when the BMW was thie thing to own and the mercedes was just its well built, safer, doestnt break down cousine. Now its an ostentatious embarrassment. Do you really think my parents would be so impractical and flashy?

They're the same, except for the frame, body, interior, suspension, and engine.
(Completely different cars. This one was built as a JV between Daimler/Chrysler and BMW, I think, with a nice Brazilian engine. The british version was more like a can opener.)

Everyone I know who has driven one says pretty much the same thing - it actually drives well, which surprised the pants off of them. I agree that it would be on my short list if I went bonkers and got a city car.
However, this is the little car I really want:

A better analogy would be that the Mini was/is the British Beetle. Very functional, utilitarian car updated in a version that shares only the same basic shape but is much nicer.
At this rate, look for the new Pacer at a Chrysler dealer near you any day now.

If there's a part of Iowa that's in favor of fucking, I'm there. Being a single male and generally in favor of that sort of thing and all. I'll even let you buy me a drink.
As for the use of the word "ironic", it has fulfilled its intended purpose, as there has now been a PLF sighting (hi, PLF!).
Call me when you rant on something that's not self evident.

A friend of mine got one over the weekend, and loves it. I admit to have gone to the miniusa.com website to build my own. Another friend sold his after two months of owning it so he could upgrade to the S version. I do admit that the thought of driving one in Houston give me pause, though. I could conceivably be squashed like a bug and the SUV that did it wouldn't even notice.

I'm sure there'd be enough trace evidence to find the SUV driver and administer the rabid carniverous squirrels to his/her anus.
