I still remember the firestorm of controversy over the use of "penis breath" as an insult in "E.T." This was back when PG meant that parents were urged to be present for the movie and provide some guidance. Now, of course, it means that it's perfectly in line with primetime television and therefore entirely healthful for any child over the age of ten to watch -- i.e., "not R."

Why people think he's so cool is beyond me. Does it make you a bad motherfucker if all you do is say it over and over again?

You could say the same for Leonard DiCaprio. He was good in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, the whorred himself out in forgettable flicks like Gangs of New York, the Three Musketeers and Titanic. Even DeNiro (Rocky and Bullwinkle), Sir Lawrence Olivier (Clash of the Titans) and Traci Lords (CryBaby) betrayed their craft for the almighty dollar. At least will still have some people like Anastasia Blue who make films worth watching.

I thought it would be fun to read but it's so nerdy (i.e., technical) that I don't understand enough for it to be funny.

Speaking of Spooge
I just came across a very humorous breakfast product. Use at your own risk.

$199 at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and the subject of a favorable article in the NYT in the last week. I think the Mrs. may finally give in and let me get one of these.
Atticus, I know you're dying to come over and hack it, and when I finally bring one home you're welcome to do so.

Cubes, Warriors, Spooge and the Bible Belt
Cube: I stumbled across it on SciFi about a year or two ago (can't remember so don't start fucking with me about how it is so cool that I saw a movie before it was released -- I am having a Monday kinda Tuesday). Recently rented the follow-up, HyperCube. Why do they spoil good indie flicks with flashy (okay, semi-flashy) sequels? HyperCube is okay, not great, and would have been more impressive had I not seen the first Cube.
Warriors: Cool flick. And I was only 9 when it came out. Matter of fact, I rented it for shits and giggles a couple of weeks ago (do they just choose not to put certain films on DVD?) which I like to do every year or so. Any remake will certainly include lots of gore in the fight scenes which, I hate to say, would sort of ruin it. The cheesy costumes worn by each gang to identify the members is a hoot. I particularly love the baseball gang. Embrace the 70s-cheese and the film is a masterpiece.
Seven: I don't want to know how you happened across that.
Bible Thumpers: Today the Atlanta Journal Constitution (our only newspaper -- what happened to having more than one paper in big cities anyway?) printed an apology for putting the Britney kisses Madonna picture on the corner of the front page. The editor stated that it was not news and should have been inside the paper rather than on the front page. Give me a fucking break. Who writes to newspapers to complain about this shit? Don't these people have anything better to do. The kiss made me hurl but it just is not important enough to waste on a letter to the editor. Every time I think we are advancing down here we sink into some sort of Alabama-funk.

Warriors is one of the quintessential "so-bad-it's-too-fucking-funny-for-words" movies. It's up there with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and anything by Ed Wood in the pantheon. The soundtrack even sucks in a funny way. Rent it, spark up a spliff or crack a bottle of Mateus Rose, and get ready to howl.

I want to throw a party and invite these guys. The entire series is pretty funny, but these three always have me ROFLMAO.

I decry Slave's advocacy of violence against that particular protected class.
Because, um, my mother was a smug, unfunny jackoff.

In answer to another question, at this point people should assume we are going forward. If I get a couple more pictures, and I've been promised at least 2 more at this point, we'll go forward with breasticle day.
If you plan on submitting by midnight on the 4th, please send me a PM or email at info@lawtalkers.com, so I can get a sense of whether we will in fact have enough.
Thanks

Count me in among those who have seen it before. The original Gangs of New York. I'm not sure why Taxwonk hated it so much. A Beau Geste of modern life.
Not to change the topic at all, but what about the Wanderers? That movie is even more of a classic, right up to the point where it used to be run serially on A&E. And Ken Wahl's later short-lived series, Crime Story or whatever, was the Wire of its time.

See, that's why having you old farts around is so rewarding (even for a nearly old fart like me). I haven't thought about "The Warriors" since I watched it on HBO back in junior high.
In addition to being just plain goofy (remember the way the leader of the Riffs talked? "I want all of these War-ri-ors"? remember the Furies, a gang that donned full baseball uniforms and face makeup to go out and fight?), the initial premise of the movie was a rip-off of a science fiction story.
Nowhere to run to, baby, nowhere to hide......
