You bet $800 grand that it was coming last week? You have a real problem.

the 800K is not a bet. Str8 can only be in the top Country Club with the other movers, and that's going to cost in LA.

I watched it again last night after a hiatus. All I can say is:

I wouldn't be upset if Nate, that whiny little cheater, were kaput. In fact, it would be fitting, bookending season 1 and the last season with the deaths of the Nates Fisher. And bnb, I know you love Peter Krause, but that was the unsexiest screen kissing I have ever seen. Icky poo.

FB Book Club

So I started this series of "detective novels" (but they're so much more than that) by this author called Alexander McCall Smith. The first book (and the name the series goes by, as far as I can tell) is "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency". I read the first one, expecting to be mildly diverted, but was so impressed with it, that I checked out all the books from the library that were in, and bought the ones that weren't. The second book (it's called "Tears of the Giraffe") was even better than the first; I can't tell whether I think that because of the deeper character development, or because the story itself was so touching.

Has anyone else read these? I just love them. They're not "weighty" and involved, but they are delightful. They are about a woman who opens a detective agency in her native Botswana, and about her life and about Africa.

Anyway, I'd love to know if anyone else likes them, and to recommend them for anyone looking for something nice to read.

less objectionable that the shootout. With only 3 shooters. Although I have less distaste for kissing my sister than some, will fans actually ascribe any legitimacy [to wins] picked up through such crapshoot determinations of a victor?

Also, the new icing rule that bars substitutions by the defensive team seems unnecessarily punitive. I assume that's the goal, to discourage icing even further, because of the disruption to flow. But still. (BTW, does this mean that if you need a line change, you ice the puck and send as many skaters to the bench as quickly as possible to get the line change in before the faceoff?)

eta: bracketed material

I agree. I hate the idea of a shootout.

Agreed. Nate sucks right now. Also, I loved when Brenda referred to Maggie as a "whiney (?) little ferret". How very appropriate.

For that matter, everything in this show has become almost consistently depressing. Blech.

No, not Lance Armstrong. Lance Archibald. At 31, he's still single.

2. But at least last night's art opening provided some comic relief. As did the "regular soy blueberry chai latte in a large cup, then add soy" scene.

C'mon. You don't like the kids? and the lady yelling at Brenda to shut up?

I think this has been a great season so far.

I agree that the season has been pretty entertaining, especially the kids. Nate, on the other hand, has been fucking insufferable.
