Coltrane, you ever heard "crackberry" before? I know you like a good pun every now and then. Maybe try to work it into your everyday conversations???

I actually had someone pull a patentparanyc the other day. She said, "I heard someone call those things 'crackberries'. Isn't that hilarious?" Coltrane (holding back our of courtesy): "Yes. I've heard that as well."

Dude......please tell me you know that is NOT how I meant it when I posted it. I've known for quite some time what a "crackberry" is....[how could I not with the 100 emails in the morning all sent at like random 3am etc.]
Also, I do have a good heart, and can be a very nice person when you peel away all those silly vapid layers. ahem.

We can't go on hurting each other.
Chevy and Hank; ncs and ppnyc -- all of this fighting (in a Not Amusing way on a Not Friday) gives Not Bob a headache.
Actual fashion question -- do all Thos. Pink and Charles Tyrwitt have those ridiculously wide spread collars? I've got to impress a potential client in the Not Too Distant Future, and I'm wondering whether I should bite the bullet, sts, npi, ymmv. I'm ready to roll sebby-esque* in my Hickey, but if the Nordstrom shirt ain't gonna impress the city slicker, I need to know.
*Uh, not the infamous "free and easy" sebby-ish way. Hmm. Maybe I should have used pony as an example, instead.

I have a pair of Rockports now, one of their supposedly better ones. I didn't recommend them because I really don't find them all that comfortable.
They supposedly have this great breathability technology, but they're one of the hottest pairs of shoes I've ever owned other than a pair of cordovans. The "comfort" soles aren't. I wouldn't buy another pair.

I have to say that paying the extra may not really be worth it, but damn the one pair of maglis is fucking comfortable. Soft leather and the right shape. The really nice pair I use primarily for suits need/ed to be broken in and they are decidedly unfuckingcomfortable. But they look better than any shoes I've ever owned.

*The absolute worst-made shoes I've ever owned. Ever. The soles cracked down the middle (on both shoes!) and started coming off after 6 weeks. I sent them back, thinking they'd send me new shoes and they just slapped some glue on them and shipped 'em right back. I will never buy anything from that piece of shit store again.

That's why H&M is good for short-term casual clothes. You know you're buying shit, but at least it's priced that way (you've got to sift your way through the uber-euro stuff). Kenneth Cole charges $130+ for shoes, which is asinine considering how cheap they are.
I had a pair of Johnston & Murphy's split just like you described, but they replaced them. I still don't think J&M are that great of shoes.

all of this fashion talk makes me wet. I went nuts clothes shopping today: summer suit sale at J Press so I can look like a grandpa then 2 suits from Paul Stuart, shirts from thomas Pink.
Visa put out an APB on my ass.

I just tossed a pair of Aldens I had owned since 1992. They were incredibly comfortable, held a shine like you wouldn't believe, and Alden's rebuild program is just as good as Allen-Edmonds. The big drawback is that Alden's are much harder to find and they have a very limited selection relative to AE.
Church's, a venerable brand that went bust in the late 90s is back, but it's owned by Prada now. What that means, as near as I've been able to tell, is that shoes that were a good bargain at $300/pair now sell for $750-1,000, with no improvement in quality or design.

Does Charles Tyrwitt have a store in the states?
How are their suits? I think they just started selling them.

If you are in NYC they [Alden] have a store on Madison and if you travel up aways there is an Allen Edmonds store across the street heading towards Vanderbilt.

I have the little people in my firm worry about grammar for me.
Seriously. When their van broke down here after the state outlawed dwarf-tossing, I hired a group of newly unemployed toss-ees from the local carny circuit to staff my mailroom. Really good workers, and smart, too -- you should see them diagram one of Fenwick's sentences for kicks. The damn things take up the entire wall-sized dry erase board we have in the war room.

Yes. In NY they are in the bottom of Lehman Bros. and also on Madison.
The suits are supposed to be nice. I saw them in catalog and on line and briefly checked out the women's in store they look okay but it was so quick I didn't get a good feel for the wool or the cut.

I have a pair of Church's shoes that I've never been able to break in. Ouch. Also, the laces will not stay tied. OTOH, the shoes will be in the same shape in forty years, and not just because I only wear them sparingly.

Paul Stuart the wool is amazing. like super whatever-count. sharp. I hope no black shoes with either poplin or the seersucker that is my pet peeve along with loafers/slip ons with suits. blech.
Also Charles Tyrwhitt is in vicinity having annual sale also, and I am told same maker as T. Pink. heh.

1. When did you decide to become a man?
2. Slip-ons are perfectly acceptable with suit, and practically de rigeur with poplin or seersucker, unless you want to go with white bucks and have everyone think you mistook the office for a garden party.
3. You are an idiot.

- Police: UCF Student Set Dorm Fire To Meet Women
A student at the University of Central Florida is accused of setting a fire on campus as a way to meet women, according to a Local 6 News report.
Police said Matthew Damsky admitted to lighting a couch on fire at the Academic Village Dorms last week.
Damsky told officers he hoped he would be able to meet women as the building was being evacuated.
He was arrested for arson and booked in to the Orange County Jail.
There were no injuries in connection with the fire.
