Can I change my picks?
I didn't know McNamara's nickname was "Pistol Pete." 9-13 downtown, ended up with 43? Damn. Several could farily be called "tough shots." Damn again. I think the fat guy from BYU should have stayed with the T-shirt-under-the-gamer look

Anybody else running home early tomorrow to see this? (OK, anyone vaguely planning to see it this weekend?) I have deeply mixed emotions about remaking this one, but am, probably tragically, filled with hope that they do something interesting in updating it, besides add more action and FX.
However, they don't appear to be going for the subtext I was hoping and are sticking more to the themes of the original (sparing you a long, long diatribe about the significance of the zombie movie as social reflection, let's just say I was hoping for a meditation on the recently revived American sense of isolation in a dangerous, irrational and hostile world) -
Eric Newman (producer): "They are the perfect villains because they're fearless, tireless and ubiquitous. You can't reason with a zombie. Zombies are the mindless masses who forcibly convert you to their way of life."

Decent early reviews though.
BTW - Bubba out on DVD at the end of May

Why would you need to buy books you already have committed to memory? Maybe you need a seminar on applying those principles or something.
Until you find one, you should pick this book up:

Yoikes!
Well, as you may have guessed from my serial posting today, the latest slip and fall trial ended earlier today. A real estate broker had a bad interface with the remains of an organic fig near aisle 2 in the East Beaucoup Egypt Piggly-Wiggly.
It went well, I guess. He decided to go non-jury in order to have his case heard before Christmas ("yes, counsel, I said December 26, 2004 if you want a jury trial. Mooo-ha-ha-ha!"), so I don't know who won yet. The client was happy with my usual quick on the feet, cool cat "who needs law?" performance, so the bill should get paid.
Anyway, before I head home for a well-deserved Bushmills, I wanted to share -- I bumped into an old friend at the courthouse as I was walking in the front door. He was getting ready to argue a discovery hearing down the hall from my trial, when the lawyer for the other side in his case walked up. They had the same friggen tie on. I tried not to laugh, but my friend was pissed, and if I had the time (I was running late, as usual), I would have switched ties with him.
I'm guessing old Judge Winderwheedle made a few jokes about that.

Careful. Without the pedestrian work of the likes of me, people may not recognize what a fucking genius you are.

You may be rid of me soon
So, lately I've been craving cheeseburgers. And I have one, and think the craving will be over, and then lunch or dinner rolls around and it's the only thing that sounds appealing.
Is this some kind of e. coli poisoning or mad cow symptom? Should I be concerned and get checked out?
