Federline's rap song "leaked" on the Internet.
Kevin Federline is taking his licks from critics for his first single, "Y'All Ain't Ready," from his upcoming hip-hop CD, The Truth, due for release next year.
The track has been posted on the Web site of producer Disco D, and reactions have not been kind. "Kanye West he's not," opines the New York Post. "He's not even Vanilla Ice."
Against what the New York Daily News' Lowdown column calls "a crude beat," Federline – the father of three, including his son with Spears, Sean Preston Federline, born in September – says during the chorus of the song: "Back then they called me K-Fed/ But you can call me Daddy instead."
As the rap's refrain goes: "Go ahead and say whatcha wanna/I'm gonna sell about 2 mil, oh, then I'm a goner ... I know you all wish you was in my position/Cause I keep gettin' in situations that you wish you was in, cousin ... Steppin' in this game and y'all ain't got a clue ... Getting anxious? Go take a peep/ I'm starrin' in your magazines now every day and week ... But maybe baby you can wait and see/ Until then all these Pavarottis followin' me."
The Daily News suggests that Federline means to say "paparazzi" instead of "Pavarotti," who is a famed opera singer. (Other Web sites say it's not a mistake, but Federline's nickname for the ever-present photographers.)
Nickname or just ignant?

Long time lurker here with a workplace Q that could be outable, which is y I am using the Anon.
Let's say one works at a small organization/firm and while not an owner/partner, is senior enough that the person has some amount of hiring/firing power over her direct underlings (junior associates/paralegals/assistants etc.). And now let's say she finds out, surreptitiously through one of her many professional contacts or otherwise, that one of those underlings is interviewing, hard, for another job, which gap in the staff will leave said person with a pita.
What does she do with the info?

How much are you willing to pay to eliminate a potential pita?

She looks quite ordinary with a few extra (fake) pounds:
(she is wearing makeup and extra weight for her show in order to see if she got treated differently.)

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

Yes, both potentially good. thanks. How about just starting to look now to beat underling to the punch? Once someone starts interviewing is there a psychological leap that is made where it is hard for a person to be truly committed to the organization again?
|
It has to be handled carefully, but I think a well timed salary bump can do a lot to stem something like that off. Of course, depending on the work environment, nothing may help. But a "hey I want to let you know you are really appreciated, and we were reviewing salaries and think yours need an adjustment to reflect your true value to the firm, here's a raise" can be a huge ego stroke, and increase job satisfaction such that the other potential offers fall by the wayside, even if they are for a little more money (see Hanks' Devil you know post). It's not about the money so much as being appreciated. That being said, the money is still critical. Just saying "you're important" without any real showing of sincerety gets you about 5 minutes of goodwill.

Does anybody else find that immediately evocative of this?
(Could be because they both desire brains above anything else, though.)

Start discreetly looking for a replacement, making no commitment until the job-hunter is gone. To do anything else would be reprehensible. Or find a way to make it worth the employee's while to stay.

Things I never would have guessed
The jury room in the criminal courts building in downtown LA has internet service. $5 for one hour or $12 for the day; I paid the $12 without a second thought.
So, y'all, entertain me.

In part there is some discomfort with that idea due to the way the information was obtained (a breach of etiquette by the other's firm who received the resume).
|
If you decide to say anything to the underling, then you should also disclose that the other firm outed em. That's just low-budget. If that one firm is the only place underling is considering, your problem may be solved. I know I would not work for a place that committed such a breach of trust.

Why? Who is out there saying that unattractive people get treated the same as supermodels? This makes me so mad, I could kick a dog.
