How are their suits? I think they just started selling them.

They have been bombarding me with circulars lately. There's only one line of suits I would order sight unseen, and it's Abboud. But I am curious about the Tyrwitt (isn't there an aitch in there somewhere?).

It is a personal preference. I frickin' hate loafers with suits. And those tassels annoy me too.
I'm not a man, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Actually, I have heard Hugo Boss shirts are not bad, not sure about Zegna but they have really sharp ties.

Actual fashion question -- do all Thos. Pink and Charles Tyrwitt have those ridiculously wide spread collars? I've got to impress a potential client in the Not Too Distant Future, and I'm wondering whether I should bite the bullet, sts, npi, ymmv. I'm ready to roll sebby-esque* in my Hickey, but if the Nordstrom shirt ain't gonna impress the city slicker, I need to know.
*Uh, not the infamous "free and easy" sebby-ish way. Hmm. Maybe I should have used pony as an example, instead.
|
The better Nordstrom shirts are every bit as well-made as Pink or Charles Thyrwitt, both of whom make some button-downs and point collars, but those are rarely seen here.

I'm fairly sure you can get them at Needless Markup on Michigan Ave.

Nice choice, but I'd go with Donna Karan New York.

It sounds like you bought a pair of cordovans. If so, you will never break them in. And you're right, they will last for forty years.

Zegna shirts are incredible, but they are ridiculously expensive, around $300 or so. I can't see ever paying that much for a shirt. Anything that has to be thrown away if you have an unfortunate incident with pasta sauce or drawn butter is not an item you should drop that much money on.

Abboud fits me better than other suits that look better to me on the rack. I've had a DKNY shirt that I didn't much care for, but I've never tried on a suit.

Sometimes they offer suits at 1/2 off via their circulars, which comes to about $350, I think. Pretty good deal.

Agreed. That is a little steep for a shirt. I like going into Zegna for a.) the hot salesmen and b) just to look at the beautifully presented clothes.
I have a Charles Tyrwhitt [supposedly pronounced "Turret"] shirt classic cut. I don't love it but the cotton is sound. I think next time I will pick the more tailored cut and french cuffs.
I actually have a Zegna fall "catalog" now. They put out a beautiful glossy catalog with hot models.
Also, Zegna does have a women's offshoot line, not sure what it is named.

Yeah, but isn't Tyrwhitt cheaper if you buy online or via their circular? I like Tyrwhitt's slim fit shirts. Their regular fit are a little boxy for me, which is odd since it's London based.

In all seriousness and with all due respect (ahem), I was not fighting. You thought I was fighting? This is just my normal posting style. Attempt the Zing and move on. When I fight I have multiple posts on the same subject ad nauseum until everyone is sick to death of the level of minutae contained in the posts and just scrolls past (other than my arguee, hopefully). Yes, the TM School of Internet Lawyer Chatboard Arguing.
Mayhaps I should retire if I am causing NotBob so much pain?

DKNY is the crap label. Donna Karan New York is the good stuff.
Once I was browsing in Saks and asked a salesman where the Donna Karan New York suits were (I was wearing one at the time) and the salesman looked me up and down and said in his snottiest tone, "DKNY is on another floor."

If I can't make it in New York, I still might make it anywhere else, right?

Before I read your last sentence, I was going to post: "TM has taught you well, young Skywalker".
