I recently had a Twinkie for the first time in about 10 years. it was horrible.

ET correct Ho-hos. Apparently I am more unfamiliar than I thought with the Hostess snack-food names.

I used to enjoy them quite a bit. Cannot stomach the thought of them right now.
As for gwnc and her Snowballs (sts), I had a roommate who was a civil engineer who would go out inspecting bridges. He would often have lunch in his car after visiting the local convenience store. His lunch often consisted of strawberry Hostess Snowballs washed down with a chocolate YooHoo. The thought of that makes my teeth hurt and my stomach instinctively close off.

I always thought of Ho-Hos as a poor man's Ding Dong.

I'm not sure a poor man's Ding Dong can afford the Ho-Hos.
Oh, and please hold the raspberry sauce. Same for the raspberry frosting layer in an otherwise perfectly good chocolate cake. Shit pisses me off.

I know they're made with all sorts of artificial preservatives and shit, but I still wouldn't eat one that had been opened for 10 years.

Thanks for picking that up. I was going to use Ring Ding, because it is the superior chocolate snack cake, but it didn't have the same ring.
I do not think I have ever had a Ding Dong. Is a Ding Dong just a Ring Ding in a different region?

It's important to keep it on the side. Because not everybody likes it on the cake, because it makes it very soggy.
ETA: Ding Dong/Ring Ding were not the same, until they were, and then weren't, and now are.

The reason I have never had a Ding Dong is that it was marketed as a Big Wheel on LI.

The ring ding is/was a Drake's product. Hostess liked them so much they bought the company.
Mmmm, Coffee Cake, Jr.

Those were good. Just thinking about that cinnamon streusel is making me salivate.
Funny that the last time I ate one I wasn't even a coffee drinker.

Amen, brother! Nothing so ruins good chocolate like putting fruit with it. Nuts, yes. Caramel, yes. Coffee, yes. Mint, yes. Fruit? Lord, no.
Those chocolate oranges some people like to get in their Christmas stockings? A vomitous abomination.
On a non-chocolate note, I don't particularly like celery where I can taste it. In salads that really need it I chop it fine. BUT you really can't make stock or stuffing or anything else that relies on a mirepoix (classic = onion, carrot, celery) without it. Sorry, that's a bit foodie for the FB proper.
And parsley? There are two very different kinds. The curly leaf variety is only ever to be used as a garnish. The flat-leaf variety is a necessary ingredient of many Mediterranean dishes, including my favorite curried couscous salad. Yum.

Does Hostess still exist? In Canada, where Hostess Potato Chips ("when you've got the munchies, nothing else will do!!") and the Hostess Munchies (tm) were a big part of my adolescence, it's now Frito-Lay Canada, so I imagine it's just Frito-Lay here.
