But the first Austin Powers was decent because it was (relatively) novel. It was dragged down immensely by the scatology of the two sequels.

You can't use the same pun I used to make fun of myself. That's a redundancy whiff.

This is a bad review. Wedding Crashers was very funny. A little too long, but a good flick.
Aside from the wedding band in Old School, that movie sucked.

hmm. I thought Wedding Crashers was funnier than Old School. Bit tedious in parts, and when Will Farrell made his appearance I kind of wished he had been there all along. But Vince Vaughn - funny as hell. And funnier than "earmuffs" guy in Old School.
Mike Myers totally cracks me up. I celebrate the entire Austin Powers catalog. Maybe I'm just easily amused?
The other day I was watching Uncle Buck and thinking that the comedy world is really missing John Candy. I'm still sad about that.

I loved Old School, so I'm dying to see Wedding Crashers. I plan to see it this weekend -- when I have AN ENTIRE WEEKEND ALL TO MYSELF!! I can't remember the last time I looked forward to something as much (the entire "get away from it all" thing -- not just Wedding Crashers).

- Ancient phallus unearthed in cave
A sculpted and polished phallus found in a German cave is among the earliest representations of male sexuality ever uncovered, researchers say. The 20cm-long, 3cm-wide stone object, which is dated to be about 28,000 years old, was buried in the famous Hohle Fels Cave near Ulm in the Swabian Jura.
Its life size suggests it may well have been used as a sex aid by its Ice Age makers, scientists report.
"In addition to being a symbolic representation of male genitalia, it was also at times used for knapping flints," explained Professor Nicholas Conard, from the department of Early Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology, at Tübingen University.
"There are some areas where it has some very typical scars from that," he told the BBC News website.
Researchers believe the object's distinctive form and etched rings around one end mean there can be little doubt as to its symbolic nature.

.02. Wedding Crashers was funnier than Old School. Not as many actual "I'm not sure if I can stop laughing" moments in the theater as Anchorman, but probably more repeat watchability. Those who predict this sort of thing are saying that it should top $125mm in theater receipts, and (I found this hard to believe when I read it) $700mm in DVD sales (hi gatti!). Uh, yeah. Guess VV earned his $12mm.
I also like the Austin Powers flicks (2 was my favorite), but not for Austin Powers or Fat Bastard. Dr Evil, man. That schtick doesn't get old for me. But 2 on the easily amused thing, so whatever.
John Candy didn't really do it for me. Not sure why. I was always empathizing too much with the actor who had to play the straight guy to his wacky characters.

I wasn't saying WC wasn't good. I place Old School up there with Stripes and Caddyshack. I love Old School. Its fucking brilliant. The Fight Club satire is fantastic. Who uses a parody of a flick released just a few years ago as a major subplot? OS is simply perfect on every conceivable level, IMO.
I rate WC a shade below OS. I think Vaughn might be the funniest deadpan comedic delivery actor since Chevy Chase. I place WC up there with the old Belushi/Ackroyd stuff as well.

Hi!
I loved that movie. Saw it again on HBO and caught things I missed the first time, so maybe there's something to be said for repeat watchability. (Who knows? Maybe VV's role has something to do with it.)
I've suggested to Flinty that he rotate "My apartment smells of rich mahogany" into his pickup lines, and since then he's been picking up the starlets by the truckload.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great by any stretch, but it was (but probably isn't anymore due to oversaturation) 1000x more watchable than Wayne's World.

Oh, I can watch AP flicks. I just can't watch them agin and again the way I can the Ferrell/Wilsons/Vaughn stuff.
Vaughn's almost too good. He seems like he's not even acting at times.
