am i on ignore?
It is a myth that female black widows usually kill their mates soon after mating. they sometimes do. even praying mantis do not always kill the male.
I think Thurgreed and I were more speculating about why he might have ran away from your place right after completion.

Dumbledore is gay
This whole "Dumbledore is gay" thing bothers me to a certain extent because even though JK Rowling created him, and he's arguably "her" character, and she is free to say whatever she want about whether he's gay or not, we really shouldn't need the writer's input to evaluate a character's sexuality for ourselves, as readers. At least I don't think we should. I shouldn't have to consult my ouija board and bring back William Shakespeare, for example, to confirm that Romeo and Juliet really were straight.

What bothers me about it is that his gay-ness is completely irrelevant to the story, and because of this, the announcement seems purely for the sake of pageantry.

2. If the series is over, and his sexuality was never pertinent enough to any of the story lines for it to be discussed in the book, then who freaking cares?

The comparison of Rowling with Shakespeare strikes me as symptomatic of the fundamental demise of literary culture.
Outing Dumbledore is more comparable to "Ellen"'s coming out - it's a nice way to shore up flagging ratings for what is basically a cut and past, paint by the numbers bit of pop culture.
That having been said, I am deeply grateful for the outing of Tinky Winky, as I never would have guessed. It may be that I just don't sexualize children the way Jerry Falwell does.

Random. But it's the best photo. It appears to be on someone's arm and gives a good shot of the red hourglass signature. Plus, it looks full and is reclining, which is why I chose it for Fringe.

Hmm. I actually think the comparison is kind of apt (even though I was not thinking it at the time, and just used Shakespeare because I wanted to compare Rowling to a dead guy) because Shakespeare was not exactly considered highbrow in his time, as we all know. In fact, he was likely called a bit of a cut-and-paste, paint-by-the-numbers populist, albeit in Elizabethan tongue.
