Is this the equivalent a female mullet, with a 90 degree twist?

On someone's ARM? What kind of weird, kinky sex do you think I have???

Because I was reading this and thought of you all.

What's a vomitorium for?

Vomitorium, despite being derived from the Latin vomere, meaning "to spew forth," isn't the place where the Romans threw up after their meals. It was the name for the entrance or exit from an ampitheater, and is still used in that sense today in some sports stadiums.*

The vomitoria of the Colosseum in Rome were so well designed that it's said the venue, which seated at least 50,000, could fill in fifteen minutes. (There were eighty entrances at ground level, seventy-six for ordinary spectators and four for the imperial family.)

The confusion of the exist with a specialized vomit chamber appears to be a recent error. The earliest citation in the Oxford English Dictionary finds Aldous Huxley using the term incorrectly in his 1923 comic novel, Antic Hay, with the stern comment "erron." Lewis Mumford in The City in History (1961) componded the confusion by saying the exits were named after the chambers where gluttons threw up "in order to return to their couches empty enough to enjoy the pleasures of still more food."

-- John Lloyd and John Mitchinson, The Book of General Ignorance: Everything You Think You Know is Wrong, pp.78-9.

Uh, carry on.

The fires have had zero effect on my life and if people weren't talking about them/asking about them, I would be ignorant of their existence.

In fact, he was likely called a bit of a cut-and-paste, paint-by-the-numbers populist, albeit in Elizabethan tongue.
Plus, he made the beast with two backs with a chick who looked like Gwynneth Paltrow. Rowling isn't seeing that kind of action unless she pays for it, NTTAWWT.

Rowling looks BETTER than she used to. When she first started she looked awful, now she looks slightly more polished, like the money is taking the blunt edge off of her [unattractive] looks.

Stay classy, Hank Steinbrenner.

  • "Where was Joe's career in '95 when my dad hired him?" Hank Steinbrenner told The New York Post. "My dad was crucified for hiring him.

"Let's not forget what my dad did in giving him that opportunity -- and the great team he was handed," Steinbrenner told the paper.

A. I don't think that "hairdo" has a hyphen (though I will defer to the grammar timmies).

B. She already knows that I dig her hair. Sadly, as I am not a crash-the-net power forward from Saskatoon, I was shot down.

I have moved on to pro boxers these days. More accessible, and possibly hotter. It is kind of sad, but what can you do. I still love the Leafs, so I don't feel totally un-Canadian.

Did someone already post about this?

A bunch of guys going into Abercrombie to "shop" and then taking off their shirts?

Whether or not they have, I like it. Because eventually they were asked to leave. Even the hot ones.

I think it's stupid that he would say this publicly, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the statement in and of itself.

Torre was a losing manager when he got to the Yankees. He was given a great team that was built by Gene Michael and Buck Showalter. He did great things with that team, but once they were gone, he hasn't done much with the highest payroll in baseball. Pitching is definitely to blame for us not going deeper, but what other manager couldn't bring the Yankees to the playoffs every year?

There are things Torre does well, like dealing with the press and taking pressure off his guys. Everything else he does is completely formulaic since '98. And he can't really manage certain types of players (see Lofton, Mondesi and Sheff).

I'm not too broken up over him leaving. I'm not sure if Girardi is ready, but why not give him a chance? I'd take him over Mattingly and LaRussa is out of it (Thank God) and hopefully so is Valentine.

Ah, I thought I remembered something.

So now your corner is shirtless hot (and not-so-hot) men. Hmmm.

ETA it was in the middle of a bunch of stupid sports crap.
