That may seem boring to you, which is your right, but I am not sure why it would be called unpleasant.
As long as you are happy. And I love the use of "all y'all," BTW.

Personally, I'm not into either lifestyle, particularly knowing that the second one seems to involve housework, yard work, and child care -- in addition to an outside job. And all to the point of exhaustion. While some other adult sits around not helping until sex is used as a motivation.

Actually, the book to which I linked is supposed to explain how the moisture problems can be addressed so that straw bale can be used in any climate.

Your post reminds me of a funny documentary I saw on HBO last spring called Blue Vinyl. (I seem to remember it's being discussed on the board?)

Here's a link: http://www.bluevinyl.org/animation.htm

The filmmaker's parents decided to cover their wood house in blue vinyl siding and she, having survived cancer caused by DES, goes on a quest to discover all that is wrong with vinyl. Ultimately she convinces her parents to remove it by overwhelming them with the evidence of vinyl's toxicity in every stage -- manufacturing, installation, disposal, and, heaven forbid, a fire. The scene where she visited with factory workers in Italy who lost their voiceboxes to cancer did it for me.

It's an enjoyable film because the filmmaker has a great sense of humor and appreciation for the absurd, and her interactions with her parents are very amusing.

I have a fear of flying, that is not so unusual. I do, however, travel by car, train (I love trains up the coast) and occasionally boat (but I gotta know where the lifeboats are). I admit that I work a lot and that does interfere with travel opportunities as does having a child in school and no family in the area to watch him while we vacation (area? hell, the closest relative is almost 1,000 miles away) and I am not comfortable leaving him for a week with a non-relative. I don't eat eggwhites -- I just did a few times when I was a child. I like pizza. And nachos. Salad. And really sharp white cheddar cheese. The human body is a beautiful thing, clothed or naked. I think the naked body can be showcased in many artistic manners. Using the naked human body for shock value (is flesh necessary in every damn movie?) just doesn't appeal to me. I did not view the Breasticle Day photos in large part because I did not provide a photo of myself and thus felt that it was taking advantage, so to speak. An aversion to having things in my ass does not equate to an aversion to sexual experimentation. I have tried many, many, many things -- I kept what appealed to me and tossed what did not. You see, I am old enough to have "been there, done that" and discovered what I like and I stick to that -- I don't feel a need go back and retry things that I don't like. Fuck you.

(Actually, this is part of my general annoyance that there aren't more stylish clothes for everyone outside of "normal" parameters, or even within them, but philosophical veggies, the obese and the non-wealthy are ones that often get my dander up, and things are very slowly being improved for the last two.)
Why should vegan clothing mimic non-vegan clothing? You can get materials a lot better looking than fake leather that will serve the same purposes (and probably serve them better), and once you stop to think "well, why should a vegan foul-weather boot look like a leather boot? Why not create something entirely different with waxed cotton, or jointed wood or metal soles, or something else that makes the most of materials we are willing to use?" the whole world opens up.

BR(Because people are conformist sheep, yes, I know.)
We should start a company to design "attractive" vegan clothing. Maybe we could get some hollywood types to model to get us going. Vegan doesn't have to be frumpy. That said, a lot of vegans do like to look frumpy - it's that earth mother thing. But for the vegan lawyers, what else you going to wear to court? BRC and NFH's hot vegan clothing store. We could call it Hot Topics - or has that been done? I have a friend who, while in search of golf clothing for a company tournament, lamented that golf clothing for women (even for men) is hideous. Even the most expensive stuff is not very flattering. We're going to design attractive golf clothing for women. Or maybe I'm just trying to appeal to the wrong people - vegans and golfers - maybe they want to look dowdy.

Like Julie Chen, I will give you weekly updates on the action going on in my ignore list. maybe cheval and pj will spawn little baby posters who will need to be ignored. I can just see the little boy in his cute little french outfit with the too tight tie and sailor shirt. the little girl would look like something off of 42street with her vintage fur. so cute! and maybe she could borrow some of Erin's eyeshadow to really bring out the hooker look. so stylish!
Interesting. I never knew I was on your ignore list, but it explains a lot. More than anything, I'm amused by your utter cowardice and lack of character.

It takes a special kind of sociopathic personality...like yours... to put someone on an "ignore" list and then send them vituperative PMs, which you know you'll never "see" the responses to. Before now, I didn't understand what was going on. It doesn't take any guts to flame people when you don't have to deal with the fallout. Current public potshots aside, your behavior is pathetic.

And as for getting some, I've somehow managed to get married and reproduce, unlike a certain burrito-butt bitch with a coke habit, a woefully-underpaid therapist, and a vibrator named "Chad." At the rate you're going, you won't be able to afford a sperm bank when you hit 40.

Which is really a shame, when you think about it.

Not all cats are lactose intolerant, just a lot of them. I have one cat that is and one cat that isn't. I will sometimes give the cat that is SILK because she loves it that much. But it is a rare treat for her. The other cat can only have milk when the lactose intolerant cat doesn't know about it. Otherwise she gets mad and kicks her ass.

It's actually pretty funny.

Oh, and Cheval... Daaamn.

Great. My house has vinyl siding, though it was there when I bought it. I figured that it was better than wood because I wouldn't have to repaint it every five years or so. Sheesh, even if I get rid of it, it will still cause problems...

I bet you looked awful.

I'm really not sure what this country is good at making. Not cars (5 years behind Japanese/Euro cars); Not steel (50 years behind the times); Not clothes; Not electronics; Not housing (all new houses are built like shit).

I've got it: golf courses. Man, can we build a golf course.

I think our economy thrives b/c of advertising and the service industry. That's it. We're not the most productive country in the world. But we're the best advertisers. We're told that we NEED things we don't need.

He (strip club owner) has been doing that for years. When I went to University of Toronto back in the late 80s (yikes) he (least I think it was him, it was some club in Windsor) was advertising in underground student publications. (no one that I knew took him up on the offer - when tuition is $2,000/year and rent is $200/month, one does not have to strip to get by).

Mainly an ass of herself at parties. The USA always insists on being the one to put a lampshade on her head and dance around after too many beers. It's embarassing.

Keep away from my ass. You remind me of this one cat that I have that keeps sticking his nose up the other cats' asses which tends to piss them off to the point of kicking his nasty fucking ass. Does your head smell like ass? You almost make me the Pliffy One look good.
