You're probably right. A French friend of mine always stays there when he's in town. He says a lot of the French stay there, probably because of the proximity to the decent French restaurants in town.

It's entirely possible that the French hotel I was thinking of was later bought by Kimpton. I heard about Hotel Whatever in 1998 or so from a Morgan Lewis partner who apparently was a fan and who seemed to know a lot about European-style hotels throughout the U.S. I think he said the staff were almost entirely French, which put visions of chambermaids named Emmanuelle dancing in my head. Since I wasn't particularly looking for places to stay in S.F., I didn't note the name for posterity. I think it might have been the Cosmo or the Commodore or something. Oh, the humanity!

That's the vision you get? I see waiters sneering when I turn down bottled water and ask for l'eau ordinaire.

Sometimes it helps if you take a group of people that you despise and fear, and have sex fantasies about them. This is what keeps Flinty a dues-paying member of his homeowner's association.

That's why I don't get how you stay away from PB. You know Wonk is still there.

Hi! Ahm Buh-whee. Uhmember me?
This is not particularly relevant, except in that it relates to Mt. Diablo and odds are I'll never be able to use that subject line again.

I really have to get out of this place. I need recommendations for a getaway in July, anywhere within say five hours' flying of DC.
I want beautiful beaches and pools, snorkeling, golf, tennis, a high-end hotel or resort (with the hope of paying off season rates), and good eats. Decent shopping and even casinos would be a plus, as would any other opportunity to see wildlife without it's involving an all-day trek. Basically I want to relax, swim in tropical water, have enough to do or not to do to accommodate my varying levels of energy, and see a place I haven't seen before.
I'm thinking of the Virgin Islands or even Aruba(!) b/c it's outside the hurricane belt. I love Mexico but I might not want to fly that long at 6 months. If you have any ideas, please throw them at me, either on board or by PM.
Thanks.

I think you really want to avoid Deepak, Satish and Joran.

yes, but I don't have a history of wanting rp dead. Honestly, it looks pretty. I don't think she's in any danger -- particularly now, with all the publicity. I like rp.
You, I think, should consider a career change to suicide bomber.
And what was the purpose of putting shitstorm in some other language? What, bilmore, what?

As Hank will recall, my momma taught me not to use indelicate language when there are men pretending to be ladies present.
