It may be the best thing you can do for them.

And remind them that whatever this silly dispute is will just hurt the business, no matter who is right.

Here is the recipe for a pumpkin pie that most pumpkin pie haters love:

Nana's pumpkin chiffon pie (undoubtedly from some '50s prepared foods packaging - Nana was of the "add a can of campbells cream of mushroom soup and call it cuisine" school of cooking)

1 pie shell (baked)
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 envelope gelatine (the Knox stuff, whatever size that is)
1/2 t salt
1 t + ground cinnamon
1/2 t + ground nutmeg (I like mine very well spiced)
3/4 cup milk
1 can cooked pumpkin (regular size, whatever that is, not jumbo)
3 eggs, separated
1/4 cup white sugar

Mix brown sugar, gelatine, salt & spices and milk in top of double boiler. Stir in pumpkin and egg yolks. Heat over boiling water until it starts to thicken. Cool until only warm to the touch.

Beat egg whites with white sugar until you have firm but not stiff peaks. Fold into the warm pumpkin mix (this is where the cooling temp is important - if it is still too hot, it cooks the egg white fast and you get gross looking white lumps, though pie with white lumps is still pretty damn tasty; if too cool, the gelatin is already setting and the final pie will be lumpy but wobbly).

Pour into pie shell. Refrigerate until gelatin sets it. Top with whipped cream.

I am a complete cooking moron and I have a hard time screwing up this pie. Do not leave it anywhere the dogs can get it, though, since they love it too.

Whiny, sick losers. They need to get a job. And stop being so sick. Slow, weak and sick people should be naturally selected: chased down, killed and eaten by lions in Africa.

At the least, Less should stop fucking them and risking their continuation in the gene pool.

Unlike some teams, the Sox have gotten it done with Boras in the past, so I'd be surprised if they were in this to burn him.

You're not making any sense. What is a "reasonable price?" Does it include what they are paying for the right to negotiate right now? If so, negative $20 million over the next three years makes sense. If not, they will be paying at the very least $80 million for this guy.

You don't spout off about how valuable he is, how much you want him, why outbidding everyone else by $20 mil to sign him because it's just that important a decision, and then try to get him for $6 mil a year. If that's what they think is going to happen, then yeah, it will be or will be deemed tanking the negotiations.

Steinbrenner has revenue streams that other teams don't have. Under Henry, the Sox have improved in that way, too.

And his first step into this new market is a $90 million one on an unproven player he will be forced to play every five days no matter how good he is because of the marketing deals he sets up?
Not a first step, not a new market. I'm just suggesting that there may be sound business reasons to go that high.

BTW, for those of you with family members who are into the "can of this, can of that" school of cooking, The Joy of Cooking has a new edition that came a few days ago, and it's gone back to its roots. There was a lot of bitching about the 1997 version that eliminated things like canning and frozen desserts and classic "add a can of mushroom soup" recipes. This edition apparently brings a lot of that stuff back, but acknowledges inventions like, say, the microwave that have come about since the 1975 edition.

Could be a good Christmas present.

I feel a strange sense of deja vu.

Evidently just keeping your thoughts to yourself here isn't an option? That's one way to deal with a "bandwidth" problem.

You mean like setting up your own sports network? Henry saw the value in that when again?

Lay 'em out. And what exactly are these other moves into the Japanese market the Sox have made?

You'd think he'd like crippled children because it's not as easy for them to escape from his trunk.

(Hi!)

eta: I am not cooking anything this year for Thanksgiving. Not even my famed onion tart. My mother has hired a new cook, and since there are only 7 of us for dinner, he's insisting I stay out of his way.

TM Translation: My mom is rich, bitches.

Spanky is the one who likes Children (and Deer).

Streusel or crust to top the apple pie?
