I'm curently hooked on Keens. Not much of a fashion statement but they are comfortable and sturdy and one of the few shoes I can walk/hike for long distances in without aggravating all my foot problems.
I also have a pair of LL Bean Blucher moccassins, cause I'm old skool like that.

I need something with no laces to slip on to wear with Jeans. I hate clunky black shoes and a lot of the slip ons have too much "shoe" in the front making my feet look like big black whates or some such. I think I hate leather too. I can't seem to make it through the Zappos site but found a few. What do you think. Or something different you'd recommend? I want low or no heel (I have sexy boots for other occasions, including crazy stilleto boots). This is just to become one with my outdoorsy or casual style. In colder weather, I like a bit of an eskimo look so fake fur trim is good, but then I guess I should rely on the Ugg boots for that.
Thanks.
These in light blue or brown (to go with blue jeans) Click on the blue thingey to show the shoe in a different color.
Slip-on Chuck T's (no laces) in either navy or brown
Sebago Boat Shoes in Navy, Bone or Dusty Blue

I'm biased--but I can't stand Crocs OR Uggs. Fugs, I call them, and that is the worst of both worlds. I'm sorry I don't much like the blue sebagos either.
I like ballet flats. They're a little fancier but they look cute with skinny jeans and capris and you could get a rubber sole that looks more casual.
Of course, seeing as i'm trekking over a wet soccer field or a baseball diamond...I usually wear Nike running shoes so I am not the one really to ask.

If they think he's underperforming, they should tell him to take a hike. You only structure the deal that way if you think he's underperforming but that waving some money at him will bring him around.
|
I agree that he could perceive it that way. Maybe he felt disrespected. But I think that's a product of believing his own hype. He was a great fit for certain of the Yankee teams (namely, the ones he didn't have much of a hand in putting together or molding), but he didn't do much of anything for the last 7 years. Again, how hard is it to take the team with the highest payroll to the playoffs every year?
As I said, if they wanted him, they should have wanted him for 3 years. If they didn't, they owed him a private discussion to let him know and give him the option of figuring out whether he wanted a short term deal. But I don't think that offer was a disrespectful one. I can admit how they handled it probably was, so we're probably not even arguing.

I disagree. If you're not going to attribute the ridiculously horrible start to Torre, why does he get all the credit for the strong finish? He himself admitted that he did nothing differently from the first half of the season to the second. The only real difference was the infusion of youth and the reduction of injuries in the second half.

Never heard of Keens. The only slip ons I found on the Keen website were these: http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_....aspx?sku=5422
and these: http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_....aspx?sku=5438
I'm also partial to LL Bean shoes b/c of my New England ties.

Check out the REI website. I love my Salem boots, warm and waterproof. I'm pretty sure you can find them on Zappos too.

If you're looking for something outdoorsy, try Timberland -- my wife has a pair that look similar to these: http://www.timberland.com/product/in...entPage=family

1) What is it about the phrase "no laces" that we are having trouble with?
2) How about Camper? I dig Camper.

Haven't you always wanted a mon-KEY?
This public service announcement brought to you by Slate's Explainer: What to do if you're attacked by monkeys.
Flinty and J. Fred probably feel like those magicians who sued Fox a few years ago over that "Breaking The Magician's Code" show.

Indeed. Where's the fun in that?
You'll be happy to know I thought of you when Francona brought Papelbon in with two on and nobody eight in the eighth on Sunday. I note that the Red Sox once again scored a pack of runs in the bottom of the eighth, and now suspect that there is some causal relationship there other than the obvious one.

It's too easy to think that when a team wins, it's the players who are winning, and when a team loses, it's the manager's fault. Baseball GMs particularly like to talk this way, because it's easier to fire one manager than 25 players. But a good manager won't seem to be doing much of anything. And yet, he is.
edited to try to make sense

I love Camper for Men. Hubby has some nice ones, the kids have some great Camper [shoes].
Both hubby and kids like Vans.
Camper isn't so hot for women though.
We bought my kid patagonia boots. they are nice. my hubby likes Georgia Boots which are steel toe for when he chops wood. I have LL Bean Boots. Like a duck. I need wellies and will buy some from J Crew.
This is the most recent brand we bought for both kids Tsubi

I have a response, but I'm not touching this with a ten-foot pole. (Even one rubbed by one of the Argentinians pictured above.)

Hmmmm. I think you're thinking of referees. (Although, on second though, based on past conversations, maybe you're not.) Either way, when a manager admits he hasn't done anything differently from one part of the season to another and has had polar opposite results (and I've watched the whole season and he ain't lying, he really didn't do anything differently), I tend to think he is at least as much to blame for the failure as he is to be credited for the success.

I am a high-heels all the time girl, usually 3-5 inches, but I recently purchased some Tsubis (sp?) that look a little like this. Mine have a higher heel -- maybe 2 inches -- but they are SOOOOO comfortable. And that is something I cannot say about the majority of my shoes. I will post a link if I can figure it out, but they are easy to slip on and they look sortof like Mary Janes in leather and canvas. I call them my cute-ugly shoes.

Camper Van recently played here, opening for Built to Spill. I didn't go, in part, because I am an idiot. It would have been, I think, a fun show. Though I generally prefer my David Lowry in Cracker form; CvB was always a little too clever/novelty for me.
