Whoa, who were the other talk show guests? I loved the moderator in the talk show. Was he socked?

Nomination

After a weekend of full time review and study of the background of the potential nominees, my preferences, in order from most preferential to least preferential (but better than nothing), as based on not necessarily equal consideration of their respective record/perceived ideology, accomplishments/personal history, and the political considerations of the confirmation process, are:

1. Janice Rodgers Brown
2. Edith Jones
3. Sam Alito
4. tie: either one of
(i) John Roberts;
(ii) Michael McConnell; or
(iii) Emilio Garza
7. Michael Luttig
8. Larry Thompson
9. tie: either
(i) Harvey Wilkinson; or
(ii) Ted Olson
11. tie: either one of
(i) Richard Epstein
(ii) Richard Posner or
(iii) Frank Easterbrook
14. tie: either
(i) Edith Clement; or
(ii) Alberto Gonzalez
16. Ken Starr
17 tie: either
(i) John Ashcroft
(ii) Robert Bork

In the case of two consecutive nominees getting shot down I would opt for the nuclear option, Orrin Hatch.

Anyone else care to go on record?

Happy 4th of July/Poll

Well, for those of you who celebrate Dependence Day, I hope you are all recovering from a good old time and are back on the job of sucking at the teat of your Paternalistic State today.

In between my flag waving and fireworking today, I have been discussing politics with my various co-celebrants and we came up with an interesting question that should stimulate some ON-TOPIC discussion:

Which would be a greater threat to liberty:

(1) repealing the 2nd Amendment; or

(2) passing an amendment which prohibits flag descretation?

Here is my answer: Without question, repealing the 2nd Amendment would be the end of freedom in this nation. Without the Second ammendment none of the other ammendments mean a damn thing. I support the 2nd amendment so that we can defend our right to piss on the flag if we want to.

How's that grab you?!

Without question a the 2nd Amendment. While I could care less if some commies or jihadists like Rachel Corrie want to burn the flag and I think it would be unAmerican to pass an amendment banning same, my firearms keep me safe when they come for my property or my person. A glock in the nightstand can keep my family safe and ensure my ability to enjoy my civil liberties.

When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

When the law break in
How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement
Or waiting on death row

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you’ll have to answer to
Oh, the guns of brixton

The money feels good
And your life you like it well
But surely your time will come
As in heaven, as in hell

You see, he feels like ivan
Born under the brixton sun
His game is called survivin’
At the end of the harder they come

You know it means no mercy
They caught him with a gun
No need for the black maria
Goodbye to the brixton sun

You can crush us
You can bruise us
Yes, even shoot us
But oh-the guns of brixton

When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

Second amendment, no doubt. A flag burning statute is idiotic, but that's not to say I won't punch the first motherfucker I see burning a flag in public if it in any way appears to be upsetting anyone present who has more reason to be emotional about it (e.g., elderly veterans etc). And in my town, my friends and family in uniform will gladly join in stomping arsonists before arresting them for arson.

I don't even own guns, but the idea that I never could in this country is scary as all hell. I would be too afraid to ever badmouth Clinton or a Kennedy again.

I like a lot of those names, but what about that guy who's wife died on one of the 9/11 planes? Could you imagine the fix the Dems would be in? Where is he likely to stand on abortion?

Credit me later, but if he's in my corner on abortion, Gitmo, property rights and state's rights (generally speaking, NTTAWWT), this would be a feat of Rovian proportions.

Others have said it better but what a looser. One less Dependence Day celebrant to mooch off my tax dollars.

By the by, while the leftwing has the market cornered on skungy poor hygeined hippie chicks like that Darwin Award winner, the anti-anti-war movement has the hotties (not to mention Ann Coulter):

2, but remember, its an Amendment at issue, not a statute.

2. Technically, as a compromise, I have allowed my lover to think that she can impose a no guns in the house rule. She doesn't realise that there is an exemption that allows them when I say so!

Ted Olson, number 9(ii). His shortcoming is he is old. Major Federalist.

-He was born 1940, in Chicago.

-He graduated from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif., and University of California, Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law.

-He was an assistant attorney general in President's Reagan administration.

-He was previous to his US Solicitor position and is currently a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, during which time he argued many cases in front of the Supreme.

-He represented President Bush in Bush v. Gore.

-He was the U.S. solicitor general from 2001-2004.

-His wife, Barbara, died Sept. 11, 2001, in the hijacked plane that crashed into the Pentagon.

-he has no judicial experience but has advocated for traditional conservative causes. i.e. anti-abortion

Fwiw, one of the websites you referenced yesterday was tying the Clintons to Barbara's death in the Pentagon. Is there some sort of (even uncredible) evidence tying the Arkansas hillbillies to Atta & Co.? I had never heard that theory and it would make strange bedfellows considering Clinton lobbing bombs at an sudanese aspirin factory, blowing up bin Laden's former tent and how many bedfellows the Clintons like to share their marital mattress with.

Res ipsa loquiter.

Barbara's death was coincident with the publication of her stunning expose of the Clinton's crimes. Interestingly, that book and its author were fully overshadowed by intervening events.

The Final Days:
A Behind the Scenes Look at the Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House

Hardcover - 240 pages
Barbara Olson, author of the the bestseller, Hell To Pay, has written another stunner! This is a mind-boggling saga of the last days of the Clinton Administration. It details how the Clintons managed to disgust even their most solid liberal supporters with their sleazy deed. You'll shake your head in amazement at the depths to which the Clintons dipped in a last-minute frenzy to raid taxpayer dollars, steal private property and White House art and furniture.

The Final Days answers such questions as:

Why did Clinton pardon terrorists, spies and even a smuggler
Who gave Bill Clinton (of all things!) a cigar humidor as a going-away gift
How Clinton set the stage for the return of failed welfare policies
How the Clintons looted priceless art treasures from the White House
How last-minute Clinton orders denied the humanity of babies, even after birth
Why Clinton pardoned the Arkansas brothers known as the "Odometer Twins"

So Foster, Brown, et al were, in the Clintons' mind, very very late term abortions?
