Re: It was the wrong thread
I just got this in the mail. the thing is, i've noticed this type thing has been coming from "women" with sexually ambiguous names. So i start reading thinking a guy has written me, then i get to "my husband" and I have to rethink the whole thing.
Why not give her a name that is clearly a woman from the start? is there some belief in the scam industry that an odd name might lend credance to the person being legit?

Dear Sir,
My name is Wilhelm Chin I am from London, England but presently living in Hong Kong. I was married to an American Citizen and we both lived happily in the United Kingdom. After a while my husband suddenly began to act strangely. He started seeing other women and became extremely abusive, physically. He was no longer interested in the marriage, or keeping our marriage vows, so I filed in for divorce. He consented and the divorce procedure was completed in England because that is where we got married.
As at the time of sending this correspondence, he has failed to pay the complete divorce payout, which is on the very considerable side. He now resides in your State, with his new family. I will like to hire the services of your honorable law firm to claim my payout money. I need your professionalism/experience to resolve this matter, and get my entitlement.
Please kindly get back to me as soon as possible and let me know if you will be able to represent me in your country as he is presently residing there, so that I can provide you with more information.
Your co-operation will be absolutely appreciated.
Best regards,
Ms. Wilhelm Chin

The version of this that was quoted on Above the Law had it as "Asshole Police Officer." Original author must have edited after ATL copied and pasted the quote. Not sure why. The consensus among Volokh commenters is that the 3L was technically right but an asshole, and maybe he took the criticism to heart.

From my experience, even a good ole white boy can get that treatment, if you are willing to get all up in the copper's grill and give him some shite. That said, having to detail all that bullshite on the bar applications was a bit of a pain in the arse.

More pills?
Ps: that was probably more appropriate for the Detroit board, sorry Hank.
pss: fwiw, ftr, fyi, I think this is a legitimate situation for a citisen to exercise his/her second amendment rights. for retributive purposes.
