Milk Chocolate = Chocolate. Dark Chocolate = Chocolate for freaks.
You had me until nuts. You're so, so, so wrong here.

Are you one of those people who also insists on walnut-free chocolate chip cookies?

Don't give coconut candy to children, period.

The only watchable things from SNL were the Borat cold open and Beck's songs. Here's "Clap Hands" on YouTune (this version differs in that there are neither puppets nor a harmonica)

How can you not like Naan?

How can you not like sandwiches? Does the bread not contribute to the sandwich? Otherwise, why not roll your turkey in lettuce like a heathen*?

Why no love from The Chronicle for 3rd Bass? And when has "Jump Around" failed to get people moving when played in a bar? I like Yo La Tengo as much as the next asthmatic, but there's nothing wrong with a damn fine pop song, and there's room in the hip hop tent for white boys not in the Beastie Boys or named Eminem. They really should just close down The Chronicle and give the website to Tim Goodman for his television column & blog. After a month, San Francisco wouldn't miss the paper at all.

Just to clarify, Vanilla Ice still sucks.

* For the purposes of this post and for obscure reasons, heathen actually means Sidney Lumet.
Naan is tasty. So is the Cosi bread. What is the difference between Naan and Roti?

Also I'm with Fringey--turkey sausage this morning with egg whites is tasty

It is like the difference between Yahoo and Google. Or between wikipedia and an encyclopedia.

Question for Sebby

If you don't eat any rice when you have sushi*, how much do you have to order to get full? It could get really expensive to only eat sashimi. I order at least six nigiri for myself. Throw in a dragon roll and some sashimi, and I might be full. Add in the seaweed salad, edamame and soup, and...well, this is why I go the BYOB** sushi restaurant down the street...it gets expensive.

There is nothing better than finishing off a meal with a piece of unagi. Just a great combination of flavors.

*I am aware that, in Japanese, "sushi" refers to the rice. We usually refer to sushi as the entire meal.

**I don't know how BYOB restaurants make money.

Morning quiz. No Googling.

1. House of Pain is from:

a. Brooklyn
b. L.A.
c. South Boston

2. What guest producer/DJ gave House of Pain credibility on their first album?

3. 3rd Bass ----> Danger Mouse

Make the connection in 5 or less steps.

4. What do 3rd Bass and Hank have in common?

Coltrane, there is such a thing as PM for personal questions like this. Unless you are just trying to show off that you are some hoity-toity sushi connoisseur or something.

I hadn't heard that. Certainly the English language press in Japan does not make this distinction.

what we need here is the conveyor belt raw fish with vinegared rice. In Japan sushi is made as art and only by trained professionals, so it is very expensive.

One response to this has been the creation of a restaurant style where the "sushi" is slung together much less as art and much more as simple food. a conveyor belt carries small plates next to the tables and you grab what you want. those places are cheap.

What about shumai and gyoza?

I like Hakata's crispy tuna rolls. Sushi rose is good as well.

I would be more patient with your incessant "vinegared rice" blathering if I thought you could distinguish between sushi made by a master sushi chef in Japan and "sushi" from an untrained American philistine. But I do not so I am not.
