The R. Pacs should take some soft money and play the interviews/statements he made the week after 9/11 as TV commercials. I know Ty will be giving great insight into the really dark dark secrets MM has discovered about Bush. But everyone else should be reminded that 9/12 he was saying it was America's fault and we were being repaid.

Not sure why they would want to do that, unless I missed the headline that he was running for office somewhere.
No, wait - I take it back. It would be a great use of R PAC money.

While perhaps satisfying to the glands, Mr. Chinaski, remember that this approach will advance the cause with which you identify so closely little, if at all. Those that have the responsibility for allocating such resources will no doubt realize that the election is, in the end, about our 43rd president, and not about the ciphers of Hollywood who, incidentally, wouldn't recognize screenplay talent if it bit them on their sclerotic asses.
And you're doing well, Mr. Chinaski. Keep working at it.
Wm. Faulkner

I decline to accept the end of man. It is easy enough to say that man is immortal simply because he will endure: that when the last ding-dong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. I refuse to accept this. I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. The poet's, the writer's, duty is to write about these things. It is his privilege to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past. The poet's voice need not merely be the record of man, it can be one of the props, the pillars to help him endure and prevail.

So it sounds like we agree: people who would suppress evidence of prisoner abuse by US troops for their own selfish motives are reprehensible.

"Now even the American command is under siege. We are hitting it from the north, east, south and west. We chase them here and they chase us there. But at the end we are the people who are laying siege to them. And it is not them who are besieging us."

The most interesting theory that I've heard so far - which is nothing more than a theory, it can't be proved - is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Now, who knows what the real situation

gettin back to politics
Now that I'm a contributor to Thune's campaign, I get a letter saying the out-of-state leftists are coming in to save Daschle. The multiple mentions of Clinton are all bolded.
Wanna help get rid of Daschle? Send money to Thune.
Still waiting for any democrat here to throw out an equally worthwhile candidate for an equally worthwhile cause. Is anyone running against, e.g., Santorum? Is he even running?
Meantime, help beat back Bubba. Send money now!
Yours Truly,
John?? Thune

What's your problem with Daschle?
If Thune couldn't beat Tim Johnson in a GOP year, why is he going to beat Daschle?

The same problem I have with Pelosi. In a two-party system, they are leading a party of zeros, and there is only one party left.
Plus, he's and the trial lawyers and some unions are standing in the way of asbestos reform, and that's just flat out wrong.
There's enough in the pot already.
Hello

If that's your thinking, you're wasting your money. The next Senate minority leader would be no better, and the GOP is never going to get the 60 senators necessary to bypass Dems entirely.
