Right now Republicans are popping corks all over the country because of the new Republican majority. However, from my point of view, the most liberal man in the Senate almost got elected President. The guy was a traitor during Vietnam (throwing his medal on the White House lawn) and called Daniel Ortega a friend and a guy he can reason with.

You say things like this, and yet extol Patty Murray.
Maybe you and Paigow are a good combo.

Besides, almost all commentators will tell you that he did an extraordinary job of being even-handed when applying the law as AG - in total contradiction to his teetotaler ways.
And isnt this the quality that we really want from our Justices?

He took up the anti-medical mary jane crusade and that absurd Extreme Associates case, but all in all I have to admit he was nowhere near the social crusader the liberal media was antipipating.

Reagan signed a law here that extended abortion rights. Yes that is right. His romance with the Religious right started when he decided to become President.
|
Ahem. Some of us...cough...Republicans....think that abortion is exactly the type of issue that one could and can treat differently on the local and federal level.

LOL, i saw 1/2 of 1 of his movies and it involved an invalid and a wheel chair and a few guys in ski masks. i wanted to shower with sand paper. i was more concerned about the implications of distributing potentially offensive material via mail carriers. if that passes, anything that can offend the most sensitive community is in jeaporday no?

Oh, you mean "Miscreants"? That's practically a sequel to "Bambi".
No, I meant the film where 3 guys ass "rape" a girl, vomit in her bunghole, then the other girl is forced at gunpoint to drink it out with a tube.

Yes. I was just hoping that the publicity would get a bullet in Rob Black's (and Lizzie Borden's) head.

Sweet mother of god! I guess my tastes run to what is now known as couples fare, softcore lines from red light district and such. That certainly requires a solid method actress, who was fairly compensated in an arm's length transaction. To each their own I say! God bless the invisible hand.

Yes, I find the extreme stuff disturbing. Not that it should be illegal, I just don't get it. Plus, one time seeing it, for "Reseach" sake is more than enough.

I understand that you might think people of my ilk have wrecked the California Republican party and its chances, but nothing could be further from the truth. The one thing I don't share in common with the people you've described is the idea that we should advance anyone who does not represent a compilation of consensus views in any election.
While I'm certain that this country will not ultimately have a problem with Roe being overturned, its only because Californians will still be able to have what Californians want to have. And if Californians want abortion rights, than it sounds like your social conservatives in the Republican party need a severe dressing down. Ditto the gun thing.
But the flip side of what I'm saying is that the national Rs would be nuts to abandon the federalist bent on the social conservative issues (i.e., let the state's decide, and not the courts). We do that, and we aren't all that distinguishable from the Democrats.
|
You go with what works. For now the national party is winning in Washington. And if it ain't broke don't fix it. Bush and Rove are always trying to get moderate to run in California because they know that they can win. The problems is that the locals don't get it. We only have two partys, so the partys have to adjust in each state, and the one side fits all does not work. However, at the National level politicians like Delay don't understand that their bloviating makes our job much more difficult. Bush only goes as far as he has to. Delay runs his mouth ad nauseaum.

I thought Patty Murray was Satan. She was down there with Boxer, Kennedy, and Kerry. I thought all these were worse than Hillary. But Murray voted for CAFTA and Hillary didn't. So I have had to rearrange their placement. I thought Hillary was not as bad as Boxer, Kerry, Kennedy or Murray. But now I don't know how close to the bottom of the class I put Murray. The vote for CAFTA was totally out of character.

She is still fawful. You can certainly reclassify her as something less than completely unmitigatedly fawful, but fawful she is.
At or near the bottom of the barrel. Its akin to having a sub-70 IQ, sure there are degrees of stupidity but there's not a whole lot of merit in being not the village idiot, just one of his or her posse.
One point of note, Hillary is in a different class. She is power mad and in a position to consolidate more power and thus, dangerous. One level below the lowest level of scum. Be afraid, be very afraid.
