Oh, take the vacation, bring the laptop, and turn the term sheet Friday morning.
I have a closing 11/26 and plan to handle it on vacation - we'll get all the real work done by 11/24 and then a paralegal can fax signature pages and I'll do the wires and any last minute changes from remote.
(My model is a guy I know who has a couple of file cabinets shipped to his hotel room on vacation -- we have this image of Old Bill in his trunks on the beach, white stuff on his nose and a file cabinet next to him, pouring over documents under an umbrella).

When I was tree-planting, I and my friend would always try to plant next to each other. He would sing that song frequently. It got annoying. But the first few times, it was very sweet. And I'm not a van morrison fan.

Poor NCS. That's terrible. Who are these freaks?* They must hate spending time with their families or something.
*this is a rhetorical question.

I think it's great that you get away, but I really don't like to be working on a vacation. Integral to a vacation is the mental relaxation that comes when you aren't worrying about phone calls or faxes or meetings or e-mail. Two+ week vacations are best, because it takes me a week to stop thinking about the work. It doesn't take very much work at all to fuck this up for me. If someone wants to reach me to learn something I know, I'm OK with that, but if I've got to be doing something, it really isn't much of a vacation.

Poring. Not pouring.
And I'm crabby, and pronunciation's been bothering me lately. Today on NPR some guy being interviewed about recently-discovered Afghan antiquities said REV-erd instead of revered. And all the election analysts who said di-VIH-siv instead of di-VIE-siv made me crazy. Not that that's a big change.

I sing soothingly and with understated charm.
Also, not that you asked, but ....
In a previous home, I was far more fortunate than I deserved to be*, because our apartment roof deck overlooked portions of the San Francisco Bay. That song went very well with sunset, background music, and a bottle of wine. Since then, it has become a shorthand reminder of our time there.

* For this and other reasons, I am convinced that purgatory awaits.

That is my usual Thanksgiving vacation, so I'm not feeling a lot better. Actually it doesn't really bother me and if I had something scheduled already I would just take my laptop along. But since I don't, hanging out here sounds alright.
[okay, you forced it out of me - we were going to head to Vegas again, but in light of the amount of money we lost there last weekend, the trip could probably wait a while anyway. Bellagio was quite generous with its comps, however, so all was not lost.]

Wow. My powers are strong.
People really go away for Thanksgiving? How come I've never done this?

You (and/or your husband) don't mind spending time with family? Just a guess.
